Name is an abandoned trademark that used to be used by a software company. I figure a good name for a domain valuation tool (examples would be Estibot and Valuate). What do you think?

Removing last letter from "value" into "valu" even if combined with "bot" is not good :imho:
It looks like having ExpensivBlog.com vs ExpensiveBlog.com

Waste of money IMO. Even if you develop it, you'll still need to buy valuebot.com.

Reg fee. I doubt a real company would ever build a site without owning valuebot.com. If a company did ever build out valuebot.com, though, I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to pick yours up as well (possibly by legal means if they own the valuebot trademark).

I think this would have TM issues

i think it's just as brandable as "the current bot" name, within that business model.

though on the surface, your argument seems rational

however, in contrast

i don't see the logic of comparing valuebot to valubot, when "estimatebot.com" is available to register in comparison to estibot.

additionally, the OP stated that his domain was previous software product that had a tm.

even though it was abandoned, the prior usage established a use which possibly can be restored...if used in similar context as a valuation tool.

one other note:

i saw a commercial yesterday about "PurWater"

it's a snap-on attachable water filter for faucets, with the brand "Pur" stamped on the appliance.

the point, i'm sure they don't own "purewater"

all that said just means nothing, but i think the domain is usable and could become a rival.

:)

Good Luck!

I just want to point out that dropping the e from value is quite common. I personally don't like it but it is common and apparently usable.

valuhomecenters.com
petvalu.com
valumart.ca
supervalu.ca
valuinnseatac.com
valulots.com
valu-mart.net
valushred.com

.. to name a few..

Re: estimatebot vs. estibot and valuebot vs. valubot:

I get what you are saying, but this is the problem I see: Ask a person on the street to spell "estimatebot," and they will spell it correctly assuming their spelling skills are above a 2nd grade level, then ask them to spell "estibot," and they will spell it correctly as well. Now, ask them to spell "valubot," and they will spell it as "valuebot."

I looked up "valu" names sales history on dnsaleprice.com, and I saw that valucam.com sold for $588 last year, so now I think this name could be salable; I just don't think it's very likely to sell. With that in mind, though, I will appraise it at mid $xx reseller and mid $xxx end user.

glad you see my points

as for being asked to spell it correctly, vs the examples you gave...

what about names like tumblr, and linkedn and all the "brandables" that are spelled phonetically?

sure in the beginning there are confusions, but after the brand has been established, it's on!

...

I just thought the name would be catchy for a domain tool...didnt expect so much conversation and great points! Thanks everyone...appreciated!

Oh ya...I also own ValuationBot.com but of coarse Valuebot.com was taken.
