Hello,

I'm considering selling my portfolio.
What do you think this set of domain names could be worth?
And should I try to sell some of them individually?
(I have some more, but did not post them here, because they are adult names)

Any thougths are welcome.

I'm realizing that I did not make good regs.

Sorry I dont see anything of any real value, but you know you dont need to stop, just look into what you are registering there are still some hot names out there to be grabbed so keep at it and one day you will have a nice portfolio,

Regards,

Rob

Thank you, yapzhanyang and robfer.

I must think seriously if it's worth to continue domaining or if it's not for me.

Hmm, no offense but it's not a very good portfolio. :imho:

Stop hand-regging and learn more before getting any new names. :)

Izy,

I've stopped my reg frenzy, now. (but not before regging some worthless names). It seems that the vast majoritie of the buys are made by resellers. So, to make a sell I really have to know the trends, what is and what is not hot, in the moment. My aproach was useless and very naif. I looked up a name I imagined was cool and put myself in the place of an end user, "I I was an end user, and wanted to build a site about this particular subject, would I think this name was good?". It does not work. Not if, like in my case, I have no idea of what is the demand for each niche. So, all I can think about is buying on the aftermarket, as cheap as possible and then selling (to a resseler) a litle hier. And it takes a lot of study. I was too eager to reg and not enough eager to learn.

repps added, Izy.

Don't worry about what has gone wrong.

Don't worry about what has gone wrong. You just read through the forum and learn the art of domaining. Before you invest you try going through as where and how to invest. whether to invest on .com .net or any other.

Learn, How to select a domain? and all that.

All the Best.

Here are a few rules that will help you.

.com, then .net are the best, then country TLD's ( .us, .de, co.uk ).

Check for commercial interest.. A very quick way is to search google.com and take note how many advertisers there are and the number of results for the keyword(s) in quotes.. i.e. "classic cars".

Your better off spending a few thousand $$ buying a good domain at sedo.com, afternic.com, or on the forum then trying to hand register a winner.

No matter how bad a portfolio is, put up a simple mini site, do a bit of link building, look for a related script and upload somewhere, in a couple of months you'll probably be able to make back at the very least your investment, will take effort but you'll learn some useful skills

We've All Been There !!

I would also stay away from dashes and numbers if at all possible. We have all wasted hundreds of dollars on bad domains in the past. You just have to learn whats selling from sites like DNJournal.com and use your imagination. The harder the name is to remember, the more likely no one will want it. If you want to invest in something right now, the hot niches are 4 letter and 5 letter dot coms. Don't look to get rich this year on something you hand reg. 4 letter and 5 letter names will be worth more in 3-5 years, but don't go registering QWXKZ.com either. It will take 50 years for that to be worth anything.

Good Luck !! :D

Setup a blog or directory on blueslegends & jazzlegends. You can problably make your money back and more.

anarresti, Unfortunately these are all worthless domains. You were given some good advice here, if you can get a directory, back links or even a pr ranking then you'll be able to sell them.

Defiantly stay away from dashes, I have one in my entire portfolio of 700+ and that is only because it was PR4 and DMOZ listed.

Don't let this bother you whatsoever, I am new at this and learning every day. It is funny to hear everyone say 700+ domains in only 30 days and that I'm crazy. Some people learn by reading about others by doing it.

I most recently owned a couple real estate companies and mentored many students. The number on lesson i taught was this "the way to succeed is to fail fast, learn fast and move on from it".

Good luck and stick around NamePros.com, great people and great place to learn.

If you appreciate my appraisal add some rep points B-)

I agree, the "legends" names could probably be developed some and get you a little bit of returns :)

Just a suggestion, with the $190 or so you spent on 25ish bad names you would have been better off backordering 2-3 good drops at snapnames.

I guess a couple of those aren't horrible, you could develop and monetize jazzlegends.org and bluesdatabase.org .

Yes, I absolutely think the best and only way to learn this business is to lose some money. So many people say "just read and research for 3 months before registering a single domain", when I think they should be saying "go register some domains and learn from your mistakes".
