Hi,

I'd be grateful to hear your appraisals for:
ri.sk

The second level is "ri", and ".sk" is the extension; .sk is the country-code tld for Slovakia.

Thank you,

I like it. It's one of those rare domain hacks that's also nice and short. Not sure what you'd develop for the keyword "risk"; maybe a betting pool or investment site?

I would guess you could get high $XXX undeveloped, maybe $X,XXX to the right buyer. If it was me I would definitely develop a site.

Because of the ownership restrictions, this one is a tough sell in addition to the fact it's a domain hack.

Hi, can you tell me what restrictions you are referring to?

Best regards,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but only Slovak citizens and companies are eligible to register .sk domains. In practice you won't be able to sell these domains to the outside world (unless they loosen the ownership rules in the future).

Please forgive me if I do correct you, but there are no such restrictions on the ".sk" TLD. I, for example, am from the UK and have held "ri.sk" for many years.

You also intimated in your reply that you're not keen on domain "hacks". That is absolutely fine, "each to their own", and of course the fact it may be seen as a domain "hack" isn't a restriction then either.

Thank you very much for replying to this thread, however, and any further comments would be most welcome.

Moderator note: I'm not sure if my having replied to this thread has inadvertently "bumped" it once again (within the 24 hour period). If so, my apologies - feel free to delete this reply if you wish, as you have done with my previous reply to "Amoeba", and I will resubmit this again after 24 hours have elapsed.

Regards,

Are you a Slovak citizen ? Then you qualify. The name seems to be registered to a Slovak company.

I know that many people here register domain names in spite of not meeting the requirements (.us being a good example).

The rules: https://www.sk-nic.sk/documents/pravidla.10.9.2010.pdf

My understanding is that you must be a Slovak citizen or company, or have residence there.

have held "ri.sk" for many years.
Less than a year actually :)

PS: are you sure you own that domain, and it's not a registrar bug.

this domain is owned by Slovakian LTD: Webhouse s.r.o(mean LTD), there is a history of this domain:

http://zoznamdomen.sk/historia/ri

...also reg rules in Sk says:

3.4.1 users may be a legal entity authorized to do business in the Slovak Republic, or other SLOVAKIAN legal entity. Users may be well below specified natural person legally competent.

http://www.domeny.sk/sk/domeny/podmienky/podmienky-registracie-v-_sk/

....

My word, the thread trolls are out in force...

1. Webhouse s.r.o. are registered as Admin, not owner.

Regardless of the details you are referring to, the following are the only details that matter, gleaned today from the Slovak registry (http://whois.sk-nic.sk/index.jsp?whois=ri.sk&a=details):

2. There are NO restrictions on individuals outside of Slovakia, registering '.sk' domains, and I have been the registrant of ri.sk for over 5 years.

3. To confirm owner details simply check with webhouse.sk (domains.sk is one of their brands, and is the Slovak hosting company I used to reg the name). I do not authorise you to cut and paste my personal details here, however, as I think this thread has been "trolled" quite enough.

1. Webhouse s.r.o. are registered as Admin, not owner.

.....

Under the rules of SK-NIC, the administrator of domain name .SK may be the owner of the domain name ONLY natural or legal person residing or located in Slovakia, which has concluded a framework agreement with SK-NIC. If these conditions are not met, an alternative is offered.

In principle it is a fact that the domain becomes THE HOLDER of any Slovak Branch Ltd.. and the registered domain is exposed contract + certificate, which are RIGHTS TO USE the domain name transferred to the customer. Therefore registration will be done with that, as the holder of ID will be used Ltd...

technically you are not holder of this domain name.... IMHO

I think, when you try to sell this domain, it's a big RI.SK, that webhouse could claim for conpensation.

by the way , it's realy nice domain name, and I dont have clue what could be value now, good luck .

A few years ago I bought a pile of German names. I might have had to answer some questions up front in order to buy the first one but beyond that it was open season.

Selling them was a far, far different story. After a ton of aggravation I believe that sedo made arraignments to handle the sales.

So my question is have you ever sold any SK domains? If not, you might want to run a little test. Good luck with it. I don't know what it's worth but I think it's a great domain.

Do you know about Francois' Hack auction site?

Ri.sk is not for sale.

I don't quite know what you're talking about, but I certainly feel that you mean well...

If domainhacks.com is your site then I wish you the very best of luck with it. Actually, I did see this website last week, as a result of a banner ad I had seen on DNF (I think it was).

I loved the scrabble-styled interface on the site but was a little disturbed to see the word "titties" in the header, and i'm glad that you/whomever have now changed it to "titling".

I'm not sure i've ever heard the word "titling" before 'though, but lets hope it has something to do with "title", eh? :)

What exactly did you not understand? I didn't ask you if ri.sk was for sale. I asked you if you have ever sold any SK domains. What makes you think I own the site? My comment was primarily a warning about owning and selling ccTLDs.

My question still stands ... Have you ever sold any .sk domains? And why do you want it appraised if it's not for sale?
