I am thinking of selling a domain:

Musik dot org

Lots of results at Google, big search volume - about 7,000,000 broad searches/month (+4M in Germany).

Anybody have an idea of potential value?

Musik.biz sold for $1895 on Sedo in May '06 (according to DNSaleprice).

This could go very high, but it all depends on if you find an aggressive, motivated buyer.

I'd say $6,000-$35,000. Way more than that with the right buyer.

The extension almost has nothing to do with it when it's a generic German keyword. I'm too lazy to look up specifics right now but keywords like kreuzfahrten (cruises), zinsen, and kredit (loans) have sold in various extensions for nice sums. .ORG is not exactly favored by the German market over other extensions (.de and .info being the most popular), but in this case I don't think it means much.

The .biz sale was kind of low, who knows. Federer, you sell a lot of names, it seems like you probably have a pretty good idea about the market for such keywords.

I agree with NLP Luc, you sell a hell of a lot of names so will know if it has more value than a .biz lol

I do not know the German market all that well at all, but it is a premium keyword I would suspect so I will put a conservative $8k on it. The range is far to large to even guess at, you may end up with a niche magazine making an offer or MTV, no one knows

German word with an .org? Maybe not every day would a sale be possible ,BUT, previous sales show differently. Hard to say with this one. With a .de, may be in the $xxxxxx range.

If you work on it, who knows?

Good News - I have just spoken with Sedo DE and they have accepted to broker the domain. They think the domain is worth at a minimum mid €xx,xxx and they will be marketing this domain to end users in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Indonesia over the next few weeks.
I think this is a good start..
Bonus - I have seen that the domain was 1st registered in 1996, is getting good daily traffic and is PR5.

Congrats! But, will they do a better job than you yourself can do? Just curious: did you sell dr.org yourself or did you use a broker with that one?

And Sedo's brokerage fees just became a bot more expensive, the 4th of january...

Yes, I sold Dr.org myself.

Sedo have a wealth of priceless contacts in the domain business/community, many of which are located in Germany. That being the case, and Musik being a top German term, I am sure they would be in a better position to heavily market this name to end buyers.
This of course, doesn't refrain me from trying to find a buyer myself.
