Please appraise our domain ModHub.com thank you. It's only 6 characters long and over 7 years old. What do you think it's worth?

I actually like this domain because of it's versatility, brandability, and length. Below is a quick overview from my personal perspective on value using Red as negative & Green as Positive.

Age: 7 Years

Characters: 6

Brandable: Yes

Potential uses: Script modifications / application modifications / Moderation assistance services / Moderator community / Opensource Modification sharing platform

Backlinks: 1

Developed: No

Previously Developed: Yes - (2006 to 2011)

Average google EXACT Keyword Search (USA): Mod Hub 260 global - Mod 246,000 global - Hub 301,000 global

Average google cpc: Mod Hub $0.10 - Mod $1.71 - Hub $0.38

Pronounceable: Yes

With the above basic overview in mind I would venture to say that this domain is worth mid $xxx to low $x,xxx in a resellers market and a Mid $x,xxx to low $xx,xxx in an end users Market. An ideal end user motivated to develop and expand an existing corporate structure might even get as high 6 figures.

Please keep in mind that this appraisal is based on my personal opinion. At the end of the day a domain is really only worth what a buyer is willing to pay and or what a seller can convince a buyer the domains worth in their presentation.

Thank you Eric for your detailed and expert opinion. It's very appreciated.

We've been contacted by an Afternic rep with a request to purchase this domain on behalf of their client.

How would you suggest we proceed? Also do you think we would get more from an auction or from selling through Afternic?

Each domainer has a different approach / method on how they do things. Personally, I target more of a resellers market concentrating on faster flips with lower ROI's leaving meat on the bone for the reseller to still make a profit.

In your situation it appears you already have a broker with a motivated buyer in mind. If they haven't already tossed a number (offer) at you and are playing the "What do you want for it" game, keep in mind that if you don't ask enough, you hurt your own roi potential, and if you ask too much you may burn the lead instantly and never hear back from them. Personally, the approach I would take would be to have them commit to an opening bid in the mid range with a push to auction. That way no matter what you have at least a mid range roi even if no other bids come in, yet you still have the potential to get more.

Again, every domainer may approach this scenario differently, so don't take what I would do as set in stone.
