i dont feel like hammering my head trying to figure out if MINECRAFT is trademarked, plus a hyphen, plus a net. Feels needs development to have value and more time to research then i have. goodluck

Gotcha, well I know this site was established, but regardless it sold for $76,000. The domain must have been a major player in that. Am I right, or did I make a mistake purchasing these?

Edit, Minecraft is not a trademark from my research on the USPTO website.

Would probably agree with johname on this one, although don't really know much about minecraft.

for me the Minecraft-Tutorials(dot)net = long name + hyphen + .net = reg fee.

The .com might be slightly better, but hyphens never really help with value. As Johname says, probably needs development to have any real value, but then checking the exact monthly searches for these terms, it doesn't look too promising.

minecraft tutorials = 1,000 exact monthly searches
minecraft guides = 390 exact monthly searches

Good luck.

Google adwords keyword tool says there are 40,500 monthly searches for mincraft tutorials, and 49,500 searches monthly for minecraft guides.

That is why I saw value in these names, and also because the game is growing at a freakish rate.

Hi Zach,

Something you may want to keep in mind is the fact this is already an established game, which lends weight to there being, at the very least, Intellectual Rights and most likely Copyrights. Unfortunately, these names infringe on those rights, which are still legally protected, even if there is no officially registered Trademark.

In lieu of this, both names have no value and should be deleted. It appears they were just registered within the past couple of days, so there may still be time to request a Grace Delete and seek a credit or refund from your registrar. If not, just simply delete the names from your account and use it as a valuable lesson learned.

On a side note- With regard to searching names using Google Keyword Tool, after you run a search- scroll over to the left portion of the screen. Next, scroll down until you see the 'Match Types' section. There you will notice:

Match Types
Broad
[Exact]
"Phrase"

Check the box next to [Exact] and leave the others unchecked. This will give you exact searches.

All the best.

-Regards

Thanks guys. Regardless, between the keywords "minecraft guide" "minecraft guides" "minecraft tutorial" and "minecraft tutorials" there are nearly 24,000 monthly searches. Say I redirect one of the domains to the other and get decent, then maybe they are worth something?

Opinions please!
