Great domain! And good for the planet which is always a bonus. Obviously good for an online store selling hemp products. "made of hemp" (with speech marks) has more than 700,000 results on Google. Drop-shipping springs to mind and then sell as a developed website more profitable and not hard to set up. Technically you could do it in one day.
DNPrices shows four hemp .com's sold in the past 3 days, two for around $3,000. NameBio lists the YTD hemp domain sales at average price around $1,000 and total dollar volume $433,000. But since your domain has a good search term (for SEO) I would guess the domain alone is worth a lot more than $5,000 and as a developed (brand-protected) site well above $10,000. These are unqualified estimates and at the low end. Value doesn't equal sale.
Some things to consider:
- Register the social media handles
- Check the Google search volume (exact match)
- Get a professional appraisal. I have an open thread asking the best appraisal service.
- Set up a drop-shipping website selling hemp products
- Check WIPO for any existing or pending trademarks/patents/copyrights, etc (important before developing a brand or site)
- Check out Flippa requirements
- Register the domain for longer. It's currently registered until 2020. If you can register it for the maximum period. I think your registrar, GoDaddy, allows 10 years. I can't see hemp going out of fashion any time soon. Interestingly, the majority of hemp domain sales listed on NameBio are through GoDaddy.
- Last idea, check out the WayBackMachine not only for your domain, but for the hemp domains that sold recently. What are they being used for now and what were they used for before the sale?
