Real First Name, 5 Letters

Wondering if this domain is worth anything more than registration fee?

Find Jysen then.
And if he wants it, sell it to him for his asking price.
Which may be less than reg fee.

There are many other ways of using such a domain name. Such as Elle.com, Chloe.com, Alexa.com etc.

Would this bring more value to the domain?

Then spend the time and the money branding the domain.
One can not take an existing domain and company that has been in business for years, has spent a lot of time and a boatload of money, as a benchmark.

What I'm trying to say is that a user doesn't necessarily need to be named Jysen in order to use the domain. A lot of these magazines and product retailers build a brand around a name.

Which means some end-user may be interested in acquiring one for branding purposes. I am actually doing the same with a few domains of mine.

Keep dreaming..... Another newbie with unrealistic hopes... NP is full off them. Been there, done that. Without decent domains this game is just a lottery.......1 chance in 750 million of hitting the jackpot.

I think you are the one having unrealistic hopes. I'd be happy with anything above reg fee.

Nobody's talking about any jackpot. I bought this domain for development purposes.

Oh yeah, I was previously searching for these first names but couldn't find many here. Would you like to point me to them?

So read it all and take it to heart!
Google, ELLE, MSN, etc....all SPENT A FORTUNE TO BRAND THEIR DOMAIN AND THEIR SITE!!
Are YOU prepared to spend a fortune to do the same with a crap domain?

And it is a crap domain unless you spend a fortune to do something with it!

End of story.

You can't seem to grasp any of the points I'm trying to make. I'm trying to maybe sell a domain name that has the potential to be built as a brand. Not trying to sell a brand.

I think for a sure sell the price would be $5 - $10 range and if you want to bet for a higher amount, you could fix a desired higher amount, let's say $100+ and contact potential enduser or wait an uncertain amount of time hoping some day someone decide to use that name and is willing to pay that amount, the problem is that this is not sure that will happen, so is what you decide to bet for

IMHO and Goog luck!

Fair enough and thanks.

The bottom line is, in reality it's just another random LLLLL.com.

These type of names are a dime a dozen on the open market for reg-fee prices.

Random LLLL.com's are still trying to make their mark in the industry.

So without saying, it's going to be a long time before LLLLL's make their debut.

Right now your looking at Reg-fee in value for this name at best.

IMHO

It is used as a person's real first name.

I was hoping that it being 5-letters means that it has more value. Anyway, will probably hold onto it. Thanks for the insight.

I actually agree with iowadawg's original post.

Find someone called Jysen with deep pockets that wants the domain. If you can't, then the domain holds very little value.

Best of luck :)

I was actually thinking if someone wanted to create a site about men's products, such as shoes, bags, fitness etc., they may be interested in a domain like that. Maybe not. Thanks for the advice though.

Just one advice from me based on my own experience, daily market observation of drop lists, new regs, sales, etc.... and lot of low to mid xxx sales of 5 letter brands:

Hold on all these 5 letter first names and don't let them go for x-xx in forums, etc. List them at afternic and godaddy, and you might also want to try namebucket. Then simply sit on them for 1 to 2 years. Of course you can also actively market these to people who are named Jysen (or whatever other first names you have).

There is a huge trend at the moment for branding and 5,6 letter .coms.
Of course there are a lot of possibilities to create your own brand for reg fee. But often times people see your name and like it, buy it.

Sorry but i have to disagree with nearly all the above mentioned comments.

I even have an investor with deep pockets who asked me to find 100 (one hundred!) brandable 5 letter .coms and sell him the package for 3K, since i am quite good at finding nice 5 letters, dropcatching them for cheap, etc. I will make around 1.5K win on this deal. Plus i will probably get more package deals of this sort from him soon after the first deal is done.

The time for low quality keyword .coms for inflated prices is OVER.
People rather prefer to have a unique and memorable short brand instead of being the next LongUglyKeywordDomainWithSeoAdvantageBlaBla.com, since google is destroying these EMDs anyway.
People are not stupid and they observe all these developments.
Of course most start-ups don't have the money that Google, Yahoo, Tumblr, etc. have.
But at least if they offer nice content and people visit them, they will remember their brand.
Time to be wise and invest now in the right category of domains.

This was last year BEFORE all the updates

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAWFv43qubI"]How important is it to have keywords in a domain name? - YouTube[/ame]

Today i personally only invest in keyword domains if the price is VERY cheap and would never ever pay high prices for keyword domains anymore. You will understand this within the next few years.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice, GiftedDomains.
Will definitely try to list them and see if I can get offers.
