Hello All,

If you have the time, I would appreciate your honest opinions on this one. Considering development - Metal Detecting Gold; something along those lines.

Thanks in advance.

just seeing "DetectGold.com" in the appraisal line up i wasnt thinking too well about it because "detect" is so 3rd level at best (no one would go panning for gold and say lets go detect some gold lol). I forgot about metal detecting. I saw a program about this it looks fun. low xxx I often comment on possible development "angles" just trying to throughout a life preserver (one angle got me in a little hot water lol) But this name truly is worth putting the time in. Goodluck.

Appreciate the comments! I pondered, and pondered, and pondered about this name and finally my money burned a hole in my pocket. My issue was "detect" but the more I looked at metal detecting, gold, etc. I finally decided what the heck...it's only money. Nonetheless, I appreciate your time and comments!

Any others?

If only Gold were magnetic, it'd be so much easier to get out of the dirt.

Still, they really do sell metal detectors specifically aimed at finding gold, I think your domain fits this category well. This is one of the few times a hand reg is worth way over reg fee. I'd call it low to mid xxx reseller. Wholesale low to mid xx.

Ben42,

The metal detector angle is what made me lean towards the name. I am a big Gold Rush Alaska fan and have pondered for years on getting a metal detector. You don't know how many times I have screamed at my television during a Gold Rush Alaska scene "buy a damn metal detector!". So having a GoDaddy discount code and 7.49 I thought - what the heck! This sure would not have been the first stupid hand reg...LOL. I guess I need to do something with it now since Season 1 is over. Thanks so much for your time and for your comments!

Thanks RMG,

Appreciate your time as well! I ran the same numbers too and that is what seemed to slow me down on my purchase. But the "hand reg demon" kept telling me "hand reg it, hand reg it....its only 7 bucks and you have a discount code.

I'll tell ya though. I understand the importance of "exact searches" but sometimes I get so aggrevated over it. Here is why: PrimeGold.com sells for $2K yet has less than 10 exact searches a month. This just amazes me.

But I am not saying anything that hasn't been said multiple times here. Nonetheless, thanks my friend for your time! Truly appreciated!

I love that show as well. Gold is hot right now and may be for a while still. I'd start shopping it around to detector companies asap. Best of luck!

reg fee

detect and gold have nothing in common

if you wanted people to think "metal detecting" then you should have regged something along that line

Biggie,

Appreciate your comments. Would have loved to have had the opportunity to snag something more definitive to "metal detecting". Even with that said gold metal detector only has 590 "exact" search. That is where I get frustrated. I have a site that I set up on a domain name I handregged several years ago. It relates to of all things "killing wild onions". If you look at the search numbers they are low since "wild onions" only pop up in your yard during certain times of the year. However, I get great affiliate residual and some PPC. I dont mind becasue what I make each year on it far exceeds the yearly renewal by approxiamately $350.

As in the example above what does not go together is PrimeGold, yet it fetched $2K. It is a funny business. I knew what I was doing when I scraped my 7 buck out and hand regged DetectGold.com. In fact I just asked someone that walked in my office at work what they think of when I said Detect Gold dot com and they immediately responded with "detecting for gold with a metal detector?"

But I do know that I appreciate your honest opinion and welcome it in any future appraisals I ask for. Thanks again!

I would say mid $xx to a reseller or high $xx to low $xxx for an end user.

EconomicalDomains,

Thank you for your time. Your opinion is appreciated. I am now seeing a common price range in the appraisal value. Now I would like to hear from folks that think my reg fee domain was a complete waste of 7 bucks. Those opinions only help me learn as I progress through this complicated world of Domaining. Again...Thanks!

I have no opinion on value, but when I first saw the name in the title, I too thought about detecting gold.

I used to have a Fisher Gold Bug II detector and found a few nice nuggets with it. Also found a bunch of coins, old and new.

It's a nice name and can be pretty easy to develop considering most of the detecting sites out there are very plain.

Good luck with it!
