Hi, All:

I've owned this domain name (cyclesolutions.com) since ~'03. As far as I know it has never been developed. I recently parked it with a "For Sale" sign. I'd like to get your professional opinion on what it might be worth in case someone contacts me asking for a price.

This domain could cater to bicycles, or motorcycles.

In '08 someone offered me $2k, but I wasn't ready to sell at that time.

Regards, and thanks in advance!

Ken

Hi all,

I was hoping to get a few responses with appraisals by now. After reading these notes in this forum's header:
"If your thread doesn't receive an appraisal within a few days you can usually assume other members didn't see enough instant value in it to research further."

should I really assume that my domain name has little to no value? I like to think my assumptions for its valuation are not unreasonable. I would find it hard to believe that is has no value.

Anyone? Anyone?
An appraisal would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to be caught without a clue if someone does approach me with interest to buy.

Would it be worth paying the $20-$50 to have a professional appraisal done?

Thanks and Regards,
Ken

Low x,xxx to mid x,xxx very probably. Also high x,xxx or more is possible as well in my opinion but less probably

In google appears 5 cyclesolutions domains in other extensions and other with the word online at the end, so I guess the owner of the same in other extension could be interested

The problem, I don't know if would be legal you offer the name, maybe other member more experienced in legal issues could tell you

Just my opinion, good luck

This is a brandable name. The .co.uk version is a well-established business in the UK. It is possible that the offer of $2k came from them. There is no harm in trying to sell this name to them.

$2k was an end user price. In the resale market I don't think you will get more than mid $xxx. Good luck!

Professional appraisals are worthless. You are in the right place to find out about the value of your name. Keep reading.

Thank you both for your replies!

ArielT: I'm curious to know why you thought there might be legal concerns for me to sell this domain name.

Anyone else see any potential legal concerns here? I certainly don't want to go through with a sale that might bite me in the butt later.

In any case, with several google hits for various similar versions of the name, which all seem to be established businesses, I suppose it couldn't hurt to proactively contact them with a sale offer.

There are many fully developped businesses in others extentions.
Keep your .com and sell it to them with middle-hi XXXX.

legal concerns:
There are many TMs with similar or exact word combination but I don't see any that were started before 2003 and that are still active (so started earlier than your registration). You are on safe side:)

ArielT: I'm curious to know why you thought there might be legal concerns for me to sell this domain name.

Because I saw one or more of them seem to be registered business so I just advised you get imformed well about legal issues in the case you would want to offer your domain to them.

I saw the member TURIST has mentioned something about that, now whether is right or not I don't know

If you want more opinions, go to the "legal issues section" here in namepros and ask, or maybe other members here give their opinions and would be good as well

.co.uk is UK local market oriented biz, i dont think they would desperately want to acquire .com especially after they get their .co.uk ranked #1 on google.co.uk

others are small family shops, they may be quite happy with their domains (last cycle-solutions.com tweet is dated back in May / just an example) - i would doubt they can afford anything over mid $xxx

realistically if .co.uk doesnt want it for $2,000 anymore (which can be easily the case) it's mid $xxx at best for a quick sale...

..or wait for another 4-5 years on sedo for the next $2,000 offer

2k was probably the best price you could get.
Now you can either wait another 10 years or you could contact the guy who offered you 2K in the past and tell him that meanwhile you have changed your plans blaaa blaaa...and that you are ready to let it go for 2.5K or something.

good luck

Again, thank you all for your replies. Great feedback. I haven't taken any action since my last post, but if/when I do I'll try and remember to update my post with a followup reply.

Regards, and a big thanks to the namepros community.
