No, I didn’t post this in the wrong forum nor am I Jeff Bezos’ wife.
I would, however, like an appraisal for Amazon.com without content.
It’s a one word dot com domain and who knows; maybe it will get some “type in” traffic from the .net and org?

Dictionary Definition:
Pronunciation: 'a-m&-"zän, -z&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, from Latin, from Greek AmazOn
1: capitalized: a member of a race of female warriors of Greek mythology
2: a tall strong often masculine woman

Do you have any thoughts on how to develop it or its potential value? What would the current value be without development?

more of the definitions:

amazon
n 1: a large strong and aggressive woman
[syn: virago]
2: (Greek mythology) one of a nation of women warriors of Scythia (who
burned off the right breast in order to use a bow and arrow
more effectively)
3: a major South American river; flows into the South Atlantic; the
world's 2nd longest river (4000 miles)
[syn: Amazon River]
4: mainly green tropical American parrots

It was bought in the basis of defination #3, which is why I listed more definations. He wanted to imply a large store, so named it after the largest river. (in terms of volume)

Maybe Low $XXX without any development.

Yeah I would have to agree with Humdizzy. Low to mid $XXX.

I think it would probably be worth low $xxxx, but it definitely would have mid $xxxx potential. Even without the store, there are so many websites that would kill to have this domain. There are thousands of groups wanting to save the rainforest, and how much better can you get than Amazon.com???

$12,000 - $15,000 :imho:

A one word .com with great brandability potential (obviously ;) )

Actually, I think that the domain itself, undeveloped, is worth more than the existing Amazon.com. If you ever sold on Amazon.com in it's marketplace (not auctions) you'd know what I am talking about. Their site is a complete and utter mess. Ask mos tof the old timer book sellers there, they tell ya.

I gotta say...

Would you all say the same thing about

Nile.com
or
Mississippi.com
or
Congo.com

???

None as large as Amazon.com is developed...

Anyways, just thinking I'd pay more, wondering who brought all the cheapskates to NP ;)

I don't follow your logic at all. Amazon.com is one of the biggest online stores on the internet, and make huge amounts of money. I don't see how the site would hurt the price at all....it would raise it hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not a million. No matter how much of a "mess" they may be, you can not deny their success.

Amazon sounds like an extremely brandable name due to its association with the big, bad river, and with even "badder" women.

Comparatively:
- Nile sounds too laid-back.
- Mississippi is too difficult to spell and type.
- Congo is best of the 3, but lacks the association with wild ladies.

These 3 would still have significant value, but none would come near "Amazon", which IMHO was a brilliant choice.

Amazon even before the book seller was symonymous with large things. I think it would have some great value, at todays prices undeveloped maybe mid 5 figures. Back before the dot-com bust, probably minimum 6 figures.

BTW, google or overture rankings mean nothing today, since many of those ARE based on it being developed and searched for books, news, or as a company. I don't think those numbers would be as large if it were only a river or a woman of large stature.

I am certain that there is absolutely NO chance that a 6 letter word with a Z will be worth more than reg fee. I suggest you simply drop it. I am thinking about dropping a similar worthless 4 letter domain, Ebay.com. It would have been far better if I registered Dbay.com or Fbay.com. :)

...And if Bill Gates had thought on a larger scale, maybe macrosoft, supersoft, or astrosoft would be worth more today.
:D

I would say Amazon.com would be worth in the low $xxxx range undeveloped. It is a dictionary word that practically everyone has heard of.

With the website, as a business. We are leaving hundreds of thousands well behind, we are talking about bi$$ions.

I also don't understand how the domain on its own could be worth more than with the webite. I have never EVER heard of a domain being worth billions, not matter how good it is.
