Hey guy's.... Just have a quick question....

I just picked up my home town (pop ~10K) .tv

Recently there has been a lot of 'talk' about how the community 'lost' their 'local access TV channel'.... (from Cable TV).

I figure I can fill this 'niche' with this domain....and should be able to easily find contributor's.... )(content)

My question.... what are advertizing rate's for local businesses (per month or quarter or year?)

I figure I could easily sell ad space / banner's.... or paid video ad's....

My guess is 25 buck's / month.... does this sound right? Please advise...

Thanks

I missed out on my hometown name and was planning something similar. First what is the population of your city, you sad 10k plus, is it much more? And are they still producing community television for antennae pickup?

Cheers!

Wine Guy and DTVFan - Thank's.

Here is some more background/random flight of ideas.
Background: Town is in Eastern Oklahoma...Near Ft. Smith, Ark.
The town used to have a community access channel...(provided by the cable company....Cable company cut it out a few year's back)

This channel featured such thing's as city council meetings, HS sport's rebroadcasts...etc. etc.

Town size is approaching 15K with probably a 40K 'catchment' area...
I have noticed a trend of many Older Californian's relocating to our area.
(I bought RetireInOklahoma.com too)...

So I think...It would be easy to get a few of the local's who want a voice to come up with origional content...etc, for entertainment/value.
Add a message board to enhance repeat visitor's... and get some local advertizer's .... IE realtor's, restuarant's...etc. etc. for revenue.

My problem is lack of skill's. (my most complete site so far is AledoFootball.com)

Random thought's.... WineGuy- I enjoy'd your post's about the remote video hosting...(can't remember the name right now of the company)... but sounded like it could get costly.

I think it would be easier...to perhap's get a 'director's' site on YouTube (otherwise max time limit is 10 min...more leeway for 'director'. And import those video's (cut and past HTML) to your site.

To see an excellent example of this check out ZachBraff.com.

This is the actor from the show Scrubs. He did just this...but his web development team...spruced up the video by adding a 'skin' over it. The beauty of this is you don't pay the bandwidth...and get free eyeball's...from people who may discover your site from youtube...and want to check out -se WineCountry.tv.

I'm a pure novice- but having fun learning.
Would be interested to hear your feedback on my comments.

Thanks.
