Ken Kutaragi, father of the PlayStation, has always been a man with a vision. And, in a recent interview with the BBC, he was moved to look forward to the PlayStation 4. In somewhat messianic mode, he said: "My dream, and the dream of all my team, hasn't finished. In fact we haven't achieved even half of what we're going to do. We want to lead with the PlayStation 3, and beyond that to the PlayStation 4 within the next decade."
So there you have it: place your pre-orders for the PS4 now - it should be here by 2015. It's just a pity that we still don't know when the PS3 will launch. But when it does launch, according to Kutaragi-san, our miserable existences will be transformed: "I am an engineer and I like technology. I want to change the world with technology and I want to change our lives. The best way to realise it is, for us, PlayStation."
Kutaragi-san has been doing a lot of dreaming recently, it seems: he started his keynote speech at the recent Tokyo International Digital Conference with the phrase: "Today, I would like to tell stories that might sound like a dream." At least it sounds as though the workaholic Sony head honcho has been getting a good night's sleep recently - clearly the imminent arrival of the Xbox 360 hasn't caused him any undue tossing or turning.
