Apple established an App Platform for it's phones and became a multi-trillion dollar company
Chat GPT established an AI Platform to utilise AI to develop systems and it is one of the fastest growing organisations in the world
Minecraft pioneered the Game Platform idea to allow for thousands of games to be developed
Uber pioneered a rideshare Platform system to allow individuals to compete against big taxi companies
I am pitching the idea of a Manufacturing Platform system to allow small business to start manufacturing companies with low start up costs.
The economics of #PlatformSystems is that the platform system covers the infrastructure costs so that individuals and small businesses can compete against big companies without high start-up costs. It can be called #PiggyBacking. Companies going for the big dollars are increasingly developing #PlatformSystems as they open the doors for thousands of developers to build on top of their systems to compete with the #PowerOfMany. The platform mindset is what is a driving force for growing the number of multi-trillion dollar companies that exist.
I think #Platform is an often overlooked term in language. I don't think it gets a lot of traffic now but I do think it has the potential to grow in popularity in language as more people want to build #BlackSwans (#TrillionDollar+ companies) instead of #Unicorns (#BillionDollar+ companies). In my opinion, there are a lot of platform business opportunities that haven't been realised.
I am interested in opinions on the word platform. Is the word too generic sounding to market well? It is kind of a #BusinessOfEverything term as it can be used in a vast range of industries.
