The problem that you're facing here is that you're looking at the "Broad" keyword results. For domaining purposes, that's almost entirely useless. At the top-right of results, you'll see a "Match Type" drop-down box. Change that to "Exact," and that's what you want to look at.

The "Broad" category finds all searches that include those terms anywhere in it, even if there are 10 other terms in the search. E.g., "how to smoke a pipe and cigar" would show up in Broad, but wouldn't show up in Exact, since Exact requires that the person search for only "pipe cigar", with no other search terms.

I'm talking about the number of searches (not the number of search results) on Google's keyword tool as well. Just try doing what I suggested and you'll see that the 8100 number goes down to around 200, which is essentially none.
