Hi,

I saw PigFlu.com on the auctions. In the light of not so good recent news, I was wondering if anybody knows of strategies relating this type of domain names, and potential uses.

Thanks

Great Site, now contact one of those advertisers to bank some money on it.

It's a great name for the current situation. But you have to do something fast. Nobody knows how much time this "issue" will last. Try adsense or adwords. Even Google Domain Parking. But on the other hand, if this flu becomes out of control then you are holding a potential name. In my opinion, it won't last that long so you are holding a domain that will have no value in the near future. So try to generate some cash through the targeted searches being made these days. This is just my opinion BTW.

You show up well in google for pig flu #3, but I don't see the site for swine flu.

It would be hard to get ranked better very quickly for swine as your up against sites like cnn and the cdc. Best chance I'd say would be an original story that gets linked to by a LOT of others.

Maybe another way to get more traffic is pledge a % of net income from the site to the fight of swine flu. Keep a running total on the site. Also maybe add a donation button as well. Make sure it's a charity that is on the front lines, like perhaps the Red Cross.

Best of luck with it and excellent forsight! This is your chance to make a difference.

I'm following what has happens with swineflu.com just to understand what is going on with names related to this potential pandemic. I believe swineflu.com (which used to be parked at Fabulous) just changed hands as it is now redirecting to pandemicflu.org, parked at Sedo, but not actively being sold there. The US government (department of health and human services) runs pandemicflu.gov.

I thought the name Pig Flu would become more common than Swine Flu since on the other case, Bird Flu became more common than Avian Flu. Who knows; hope the pandemic doesn't become that much of a problem.

Swine sounds nastier than pig. That is why its become more popular. The media is behind the hype and they've obviously picked the term that will elicit the most interest/concern.

Your ranking on google can be still improved :)
Good Luck.

looks like the Pork industry wants to call it something else !

"Ever heard of the H1N1 virus? It's the virus popularly referred to as swine flu -- until the U.S. pork industry got involved."

Regged www.swineflu.co.in and already started getting traffic on it. Hosted as news site.

Set up http://swineflunewswire.com/ as an RSS news aggregator on Wordpress, feeding from WHO, CDC and the major news sites, with some country and keyword filters.
