Hi,

I saw PigFlu.com on the auctions. In the light of not so good recent news, I was wondering if anybody knows of strategies relating this type of domain names, and potential uses.

great site.... I am not sure who would be interested in buying it but I bet you get some good traffic for awaile. Mabey a pharma company might be interested if the traffic is good.

I was speculating this morning and translated swineflu into spanish.
I registered gripeporcina.com and .info and parked them. I've already received many hits and a couple of clicks today.
I'm looking for advice on the appraisal thread and want to get an idea how to price them.

PigFlu.com is a common term for the swine flu and I think you could have some value there.

I don't speak spanish and have never owned a spanish name before and am not sure what the market is like. I wish I could park it with spanish links, I could probably do better

I thought the name Pig Flu would become more common than Swine Flu since on the other case, Bird Flu became more common than Avian Flu. Who knows; hope the pandemic doesn't become that much of a problem.

This domain is a catch 22 for you. If it increases in value, you may die. Hold it and if millions start dying you can sell it and buy a nice place in remote Montana.

Thank goodness summer is coming. Hopefully they'll have a vaccine by next fall.

Thank you for having a useful site on it...this crisis will bring out the worst in domainers who will squat on names hoping for a profit, leading non profits and gov't agencies who really want and need to help people to register non-memorable crap. That gives us all a bad name.

You are doing domainers and of course your visitors a solid by putting helpful content up.

If you do get offers, I hope that the only people you'd hold up for a significant profit are for-profit companies (e.g. pharmaceuticals), developers, or one of us.

Jaca, thanks for the kind words, I've put a lot of time on keeping the site updated and being careful not to misinform; but it is difficult. I've placed some ads there, but they aren't really much of revenue generators (opted to not inject them inline with text, and might end up removing them). I am set on selling to an end user.

The term isn't quite right, it might be worth something if you sell it pretty soon but pretty much everyone is reporting it as "swine flu", going by Google news it is about 100 fold difference.

It was a coin toss in reality; a 50/50 I believe. I think that PigFlu is equivalent to BirdFlu, as Swine is equivalent to Avian. In the case of birdflu, that term caught better, in the case of swine influenza, the "swine" seems to be more popular, although other occurances of swine influenza have been called "pig flu" in the past.

You probably have a crystal ball; it is about to reach 9,000 today. There is a lot of organic 65% google, 5% yahoo, and about 12% some Rusian sites, and 10% type-in (direct). I think that the reason for the good organic traffic is because I started the site a couple of months ago and it was indexed by google for a while already.
