As far as .sc goes, I own state.sc (the South Carolina (USA) state address is state.sc.us), and I get about 35-40+ type-ins a day and it's making ~$1 a day. I would imagine that if I marketed this site more, or developed it more, the value could certainly be substantial.

thanks to all of you for your appraisals - more or less what I expected.

In general, I think tlds like .sc are only really worth the risk as keywords if you are going to develop.

The problem of lack of recognition of the tld not only limits the number of possible end users who might be prepared to use the tld, but probably also reduces the chances of an end-user coming to you, as most end users (of commercial terms) may not even know the tld exists in the first place to consider it. Especially whilst so few registrars offer it, I can't see .sc taking off big time anytime soon - althought I think that the best keywords are worth $xxx.

Anyway, I'm thinking about the best way to develop it - got a few ideas.

For the domain name itself, I could see you
getting $50-$100. Developed, you might be
able to get $500-$1,000. I'd recommend
AdSense and bulding a forum community.

You gotta study a little more, do you think someone will be willing to buy it before it expires. If so there is some value to it.

nowhere have I said "all .sc's are worthless", I said I have never seen one single sale for any price, and php.sc is worthless.

Just like the ext has nothing to do with the intrinsic value of the domain.. it's all in the marketing and promotion.

the extension has everything to do with value!, why do you think almost every sale this year over 100k been in the .com extension? why did saletraining.com sell for 85k when it dropped, whilst salestraining.sc isn't even registered?
