Hello all,

Just found this web board. I'm currently a web-designer and mainly I design STATIC HTML websites. I'm doing pretty good at it. I also have implemented many pre-configured scripts such as shopping carts, support systems, formmail scripts, boards etc. So I have a basic knowledge of setting up MySQL databases and uploading PHP scripts.

I'm now in the need of actually creating a custom PHP script with a MySQL database backend. I've search online but haven't found a good online tutorial of the beginners guide to PHP/MySQL.

Could someone please refer me to a good source so I can learn?

You probably won't/don't need to read all of it, so you could just skip down the page some. Check out the examples and just start playing with it.

Thats what i like to hear :) I think youll find that books are far better than websites. Which book did you end up buying?

ive also had much better luck with books.

i have bought several books put out by Sitepoint, but by different authors on various topics...the one you would probably be looking for is "Build Your Own Databse Drive website Using PHP and MySQL" by Kevin Yank - got mine off amazon, maybe this is the one you got already!

good luck
