I think there isn't one tutorial for this.

There are 1000's of techniques and if you can be a bit clearer on the subject then maybe someone can link you to the right tutorial.

For the starters you can play around with the blending options of the layer and it will keep you busy for sometime and you will see some effects that can change the image slightly.
