I am in the process of purchasing Web Space for a Photo gallery that i'm putting together.

My question is this, I have visited sites that don't allow you to save pictures without paying a fee, ie: logging in. These sites protect their content bye disabling >> right clicking the picture to download or saving the file. Maybe some kind of Java Script or something of that nature ??

I am very interesting in applying this to my sites makeup and wish to source information about this type of restriction in open web pages. Any information or advise would be apreciated greatly :)

You could make people have to sign in to view your images at a larger size, however it doesn't stop anyone from taking them.

Also, disabling right-click will do bugger all because anyone can just take a screenshot of the page (amongst numerous other simple workarounds).

;)

Yeah... the disabled right click will probably just annoy most users, and it certainly doesn't prevent someone with any understanding of the web from accessing/saving the image.

Your best bet might be to simply add a watermark to the image and state that the images are copyrighted.

I've never heard of a absolute image protection system.

having to register and login might turn off potential visitors in the begining as there are plenty of other reputable, well known sites that can be visited without this hurdle though thanx for your advice friend :)

I'm used to seeing images with watermarks though thought it was a form of advertising.
