Personal website template - $50 PayPal

Currently have a poorly designed personal website to put pictures & news up for family & friends. Would like something that looks nicer. Looking for something on the order of this website (www.vttgetaway.com)....centered table with rounded edges, somewhat mute colors but not nearly as busy as this website and would prefer text links instead of buttons.

I would prefer if whoever does this knows how to create include files (php or asp) so I will have a header & footer file so if I want to change anything at the top or bottom I can. This is not a necessity but would prefer it.

Finally, where the top of that website is white I would like to put a few pictures (possibly lightened to put our names over them). For now if someone would just like to use a few generic stock photos and then I'll send the winner a few photos for the top to finish it.

Hope that's not too much info. Deadline is next Saturday.

Thanks for all the entries...I'm sorry I wasn't able to give feedback on everything but to be honest I was pretty overwhelmed with all the posts & PMs.

I'd like to narrow down to these couple: TSmith's 1st design, damnidunno's design in #39, Nizzay & JYM.

If the designers of those could answer the following questions that will help with final decision (I know some of you answered some of these already in your post but if you can just answer them all one last time I'd appreciate it).

- Is your design something original you made?
- Is the template HTML so I can edit in Frontpage or Dreamweaver?
- Can I change buttons without designing something (what I mean is can I just change some text)?
- Are you able to do includes?

I'll give those 4 until Tuesday night to answer and then I'll decide.

1) yes just for you
2) yes you can edit it in frontpage or dreamweaver, or even notepad. i use dreamweaver.
3) I'll make the menu bar php include file itself so you can open it up and just change the text and links and save it then upload and it'll change on every page. Same with all the other content.
Only thing you'd probably need to know is how to make links which is the

<a href="url">text</a>

its as simple as that.

Yes however if you wish to change the buttons i would have to change the font of the buttons unless you would like me to create a new button in the future with that select font in the future

To be 100% honest Im not sure i understand what you mean by the question

- Can I change buttons without designing something (what I mean is can I just change some text)? Yes, my buttons are simply links (a href="link.html") and all you need to do is change the text and the page to be linked to.
- Are you able to do includes? Yes, very easily.

Its made in front page and top header in photoshop -
so if you need change title i will send the PSD file.
also if you would like to implement your image in header
i will do that..

Its very easy to edit in frontpage ...if you can hire someone
for edit your images other stuff i will send all require files..

Yes.

The design was made with photoshop and CSS in Dreamweaver, so yes.

Like they stated above, all you'd have to do is change the existing text and add your own pictures at the given dimensions. You can open the style sheet to change any colors or sizes/dimensions accordingly.


- Are you able to do includes?
I don't have a lot of experience with includes in CSS design so i stayed away from that.

css has nothing to do with php includes...

php includes just grab txt such as html text from another file and adds it to the document when it loads..

it makes it so that you can edit that one file and not alot.
i use php includes on all my sites for:

1 php include for the menu
2 php include for the meta and title tags
1 php include for the copy right info

sometimes even another phpinclude for stuff that i use alot.

I think that i am going to try to use a phpinclude for every content box used on this site to make it even easier for jw to edit.

> Yup :3 You need Photoshop to edit the mysite.com though, or some other application that can open and edit psd-files. I can do it for you if you dont have Photoshop ^^

okay I just coded it, some padding problems need to be fixed, but it looks fine in both firefox and IE to me. I dont have a MAC so i can't test it there.
it's valid xhtml 1.0 transitional and css and has tons of includes.

So all you would have to do is add onto include-maincontent.php and upload it and it'll update the page.

Same with the menu, top header text, copyright, pictures and side content info.

I have also uploaded the files into an online demo page. You can click here to view it.

PHP Includes are extremely simple, all you do is create a new file, copy some html into there, then in your main file just <?php include("file.php"); ?>.

I do it all the time, especially for meta info, footer, and header info.

It was a very tough decision but more than likely we'll be going with Nizzay's design. He's making a few changes and once we see those I'll offcially annouce it.

I don't think he can do the includes though so may need someone to help with that...I'd be willing to pay of course. I'll post/PM someone if I do.
