I have a perpetual invision power board license for sale. I purchased it in 2006, but I gave up on the forum that I had running.

You can still download the newest version of Invision Power board, but support is expired and you'd need to buy that. (if you need it).

No idea what it's worth, so make offers in the thread or by PM. Either way is fine.

I'm going to get it validated by a mod as well.

You are probably best contacting invision power board support themselves, although you may have troubles because support is expired. I wouldn't worry about giving ftp information, it is likely for support unless the license requires correct information. It may be for license update or verification reasons, try to input correct information - your information is secure with them.

Yes, putting your FTP information in the Invision Power Board client area is optional.

It's mainly for if you have the most expensive level of support, where they will do some "upgrades" for you if you ask.

Whats the advantage(s) for IPB instead of vB?

Well, I personally agree that IPB is more secure and has more features, especially on the administration side.

To form your own opinion, I suggest that you visit a few bulletin boards that are using Invision Power Board, and perhaps create a test board at www.invisionpower.com

The best way would to see for yourself. You can also create a test board at http://www.vbulletin.com (I believe they still let you...) and compare the two.

I'm sure there's a heavy debate on which forum software is the best out of the big two paid forum scripts. It all probably depends on your personal preference.

The license itself does not expire. It's perpetual (lifetime).

That doesn't mean that you cannot update/download the newest version whenever you need/want to.

Since it is a perpetual license, you'll be able to download the newest version as long as Invision Power Board is around, as long as you have the license.

It simply makes it so you cannot access the support forums as a customer, or receive customer support benefits such as them upgrading the forum for you (which it's simple to upgrade anyway).
