I’ve paid a huge amount of money for this domain but felt i got a bargain to what this domain is potenitally worth (according to the OECD retirement savings in pension funds exceeds $50 trillion USD).

One of the reasons why I bought this is, I just felt there’s almost 8 billion people in the world and all will think about retirement at some stage of their life and many people start paying into pension funds at a young age (late teens/20's and 30's).

Most people when it comes to retirement will have pension funds in the hundreds of thousands and its fairly common for people to have 7 figures + pension pots, so I just felt if it was common for 1 person (out of nearly 8 billion in the world) to have a pension pot of $1 million+, how much is the home of the pension industry worth on the world wide web (Pension dot com)?

I do have my own thoughts on valuation, but very interested to hear yours. How much would you value a $50 trillion industry defining domain name?

Please check out the domains landing page I have created and thank you to everyone who comments.

*If you give an appraisal please don’t type out the domain in full as I will be locking and censoring this thread at some point and don't want it indexing*

Damn! Great name. I'd value at close to mid 6 figures. Just my personal opinion and I'm not a very experienced one.

WOW !! I need to agree with @Samer

Congrats! This is a 7 figure domain minimally and a 8 figure domain to the right buyer, no doubt.
Hold on to it until a serious buyer comes along, it will only increase in value over time.

Remember Voice.com sold for $30 MILLION and @Rick Schwartz recently updated the price of properties.com and property.com to $125 MILLION.

PS Every domain name is unique, and none can really be compared to each other, either way, you have a great gem @Kingslayer, and ultimately all depends on how much you yourself want to sell p/e/n/s/i/o/n dot com for. Cheers!

That's a nice domain, definitely.
Something important about the subject of your name though is that developed countries are reaching a state where their population age is increasing (birth rates down) making them earn less to pay the (subject of your domain), and as people save to pay the one of the previous people, suddenly having a drop in new payers will make it difficult to be sustainable.
Good timing for companies to make it work again - Their goal now is to make a smart fund to repair that, so people are not relying on governments for this exact thing

6 figures doesn't cut it...millions

I wouldn't be surprised you getting 8 figures, certainly 7. Great investment

Great and priceless domain!

Remember for any good quality domain like yours or any such pronounceable 3L/4L or dictionary words the main price differentiating factor is not the domain quality but the Domainer. So if you give respect to the brand, care and protect your domain it will be a new Voice for you and if you abandon it like General Electric did then its fate would be like PAA.

One great domain is sufficient to change our future as an entrepreneur and also as an investor. Many times finding that one takes an entire lifetime.

Congratulation and All the best Mr Millionaire :)

PS: Just an observation about landing page to avoid spamming and to get more & relevant information about buyers instead of an email id I think a customised contact form would serve you better.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far, when i was buying the domain i saw it as a potenital 8 figure domain name, so i'm glad a few fellow investors agree. Before creating this thread i was 98% sure i bought something special (hence why i paid a lot investment wise) but there was always that little doubt, so this thread is reassuring for me, so thanks to everyone for that.

I know a couple have mentioned Voice dot com in this thread, I'm not sure if could get the figure that went for, but means a lot even comparing my domain to that.

Way i see it, single words .com's are going for a huge amount of money right now, but when they are not only single word .com's but industry defining too (like this domain is) it goes a level beyond that.

Remember Voice.com sold for $30 MILLION and @Rick Schwartz recently updated the price of properties.com and property.com to $125 MILLION.

Yeah keeping my eye on the potential Property dot com sale, fingers crossed this deal goes through for Rick, could be big like the Voice dot com sale was for domains.

Yeh, beauty. Wow. Congratulations. 2M+. 8 figures would not surprise me at all for a buyer looking to do something big with it. This kind of name may still take years to sell because of its worth. There's the right buyer, but also the right time- keep your ear to balancing it.

Nice lander, maybe add https make it more professional. Don't center your text, makes it a little wack. Try justify left instead. See if you can throw a mobile version too to get rid of the horizontal scrolling.

Anyways, thanks for sharing a domain like this, and best with it. Truly spectacular.

The best name I have seen in the appraisal section.
Congratulations on having the ability and funds to secure.
Magnificent.

I was a little pensive at first because at least in the US, pensions have been on the downslide as a source of retirement income on the corporate side, if not for government, military and unions, and even those are under threat. It’s all 401ks and IRAs here where the risk and burden of saving has been shifted to the individual. Not sure how it’s done elsewhere.

However, this domain has all the hallmarks of a great one: industry-defining, short one-word, registered in 200+ TLDs, etc. My only question is why hasn’t one of the finance bigwigs already bought this? For instance, in the US, Fidelity uses 401k.com to redirect to their site. (Perhaps they’re the best use case user for your domain?)

Another interesting point to consider is in Europe, pension (French but used in other countries like Germany and Spain) can also mean “boarding house” or something we might call a hostel or maybe a bed & breakfast? One example is a boarding house finder at pension.de. So perhaps, another option, but with a European focus.

Anyway, congrats on the acquisition and the opportunity to go down this rabbit hole. Definitely made me stop and think. And here’s to a big sale in your future.

Congrats on the purchase - you got yourself a gem

Nice to see the plural is in use - it forwards to Future Plan, not sure sure if it was part of the deal when they bought Pension Strategies or not?

So many deep pocket end users for this domain it is unreal

Curious to see what you value it at?

Top top name. I wouldn't let that go for less than 8 figures. Have you thought about getting it built out? I'm sure an experienced developer could make that name insanely profitable without having to sell it at all.
