Hi all,

I need some input from people on the income difference between parking domains and creating minisites for adsense

What are the pros and cons?

Do people find a significant initial rise in income return with a minisite?

Is the extra effort worth it to create a minisite?

pros for minisites: 100% of ad revenue
cons for minisites: you have to make one

i'm not sure how much more revenue you'd get from making a minisite, but i don't imagine it doubling (seeing as parking companies shouldn't be taking that large a cut). if you have some domains that don't get a lot of type-ins, or constantly decreasing type-ins, i would go ahead and make a minisite for it.

I think the more experience we get as domainers we realize that mini sites are the way to go. Parking names and companys will remain, but the smart ones (domainers) will develop into mini sites for 100% revenue through adsense etc. Having mini sites with the same domains "listed for sale" at sedo and elsewhere is my advice.

See my post/link below, alot of helpful information and developing mini sites with 1plus.net is a breeze.

Heres the link.

Heres a few of my mini sites hosted at 1plus.net

The problem with most mini-sites is people just use duplicate content - google is really starting to wise up to this and is dropping them from the search results.

Still, with same traffic on a minisite that used to be parked i earn 5 times more, which is not much, but now it safely covers the regfee and some more, before it made cents over a month - This is a duplicate content site. On unique sites (not only design, but texts - most important), it is completely different, not really possible to compare, it all depends on the content.

I've been pondering about the same topic for the past few months.

I guess my conclusion is:
Take your most visited domain and turn it into a mini site. Hook up as affiliate with products pertaining to your "main" site.
Furthermore, take all other domains you own and forward them to your mini site. For all other sites that you own, simply build the other pages (on your hosted page) with links and route to there, all the while you're still only utilizing your one main site.

Pros:
you pay for hosting for only one site
you get the full revenue and don't have to share with the likes of parking services
You control your design, etc.

Cons:
you have to make your own site
administer the affiliate programs that you're signed up at
Get your own traffic (which can be a major PITA)

...i'm still undecided, go figure!

adsense pays less than some parking sites

Our experience has been that Adsense can sometimes pay less (CPC) than most domains that we have parked at Sedo for example. So unless the traffic is high and you can serve them relevant content & ads then you might see an increase in traffic (re: returning visits) and hence more revenue.

does google give sedo higher click price than give to an individual?
If yes, then it is possible sedo gives you better gain.

My mini-site has some traffic, but the problem is that click rate is low.

Overall I've had more luck with Minisites using Adsense. It would be great if YPN were better targeted but as it is right now the YPN CTR is horrible.

Minisites are also better for SE traffic in general.

If you have a premium adsense feed there is no comparison that minisites are better but if you don't you will often find you get a higher PPC with some parking services over that of a minisite.
