domain ParisDiner.com - Is the GoDaddy valuation meaningful?

Hi all. Newbie here.

Am I right to be skeptical about GoDaddy estimated values? I acquired ParisDiner.com and the estimated value is $1246. Sounds a bit mean to me, but then again I'm no expert. I'm keen to flip it quite quickly so I'd also be keen to get some advice on the best way to sell a domain within, say, a 7-day window.

Yes, you should be sceptical of any estimated values. They are just that - estimates. And usually highly unreliable. As a general rule I would not expect to get anywhere near as much as most estimators value domains at unless you wait a long time. I have no idea how you would flip such a name so quickly if you want a decent price for it. If I want something gone quickly I stick it in the bargain bin for under $20. Even then a lot of names won't sell. I would not expect to get a decent price for a name like this on an extremely quick flip. Yes, some sales occur quickly, but most domainers talk in terms of months or even years for reselling their domains. I do some quick flips - but that involves buying a name for $10 and reselling for $20 or $25. Probably not what you're hoping for sorry...

It's an automated guess based on comparable sales. A simple machine comparison isn't aware of things like language, niche market value, intuition, current events, new technology, etc.

It's a starting point. Also check comparable sales at namebio.com, how many other gtld's are taken, search volume.

After registration, a domain is locked and can't be transfered for 30 to 60 days. If you buy a domain at Godaddy.com,, you can "push" the domain to another Godaddy account without waiting.

If you're an experienced sales person, you now the challenges. If not, make sure you're buying a great name.

To flip quickly, the only way is to google for "Paris Diner" businesses and to outbound asking them if they need the domain. If they ever exist.

Can i ask, why did you register the name, in the first place? Usually people who want to flip something, first interesting how to sell it and only then buying.
