Page Rank???

I am totally confused when it comes to page rank when someone is talking a PR3 or PR4 domain name.
I have some very good names that when entered on Google search it is the 2nd, 4th or 5th option listed on the first page, yet the domain is parked and for sale at Afternic.
What exactly is page rank and does a search for a name showing on the front page mean anything?
Would greatly appreciate some help to understand this.

Generally speaking, the higher the PageRank, the most search engine traffic.

If a domain ranks high for good keywords, it's definitely valuable.

So basically, it needs to be a domain name that is linked to an existing site, drawing traffic. Not just a domain name getting high 'clicks'?

Its just how Google rank yr site. doesnt effect other search engines. Higher page rank means its a good web site rather than a good domain. this page rank could change with very Google page rank update .also it quickly decreased if its just park on somewhere without the site.

Its better high PR domain+site rather than a just domain. The Point is Google PR is about the web site not just the domain.
