Hey guys:

We have made some pretty dynamic changes to www.OZtralia.tv. As most of our sites our, the homepage is dynamic. Go to the video map to see all locations we cover in Australia.

Check it out and let us know your feedback.

Thanks,

Gunnar

A well done site or should I say sites

Congrats to your team and your right, its more then just the web work

I keep hearing Romania is the place for good work over India. Of course that is a general remark. There will be good and the bad.

Congrats again!

Hey guys:

Yes, the web development team is wonderful (!). But you really have to remember, that is only a small part of creating a .tv.

Content....good content is key. I am going to stand up on a soap box and say that NetworkGlobal's content is the end all, but creating a good .tv site needs great video content, along with written content to supplement it (SEO).

We are very proud of our design work but also very proud of our video content as well. We feel that is what separates us from the rest.

Thanks,

Gunnar

I do agree that not only is the site a really classy design, it also has a high degree of unique quality content. I have spent a fair bit of time on your site today as i was so impressed, it is a great way to develop a Geo while pushing the video content imho
Your video content really nakes the site in my view, much high class than many sites produce and works brilliantly for your target audiences needs.

Can i ask 1,2 questions about your plans?
1: Who is the site aimed at - Are you going for potential overseas visitors or Australians who are thinking of a holiday within their own country?
2: Do you imagine your main income to be through selling adverting packages or through Holiday/Hotel bookings?
3: Does your team produce the content for the 'Features' & the Blogs themselves or did you look outside your firm for journalists or any aspiring writers...etc??

Sorry to ask so many questions but i love what you have done and with me hoping to develop 1,2 Geo's within the next year then i'm trying to educate myself on all the best development routes.

Thanks in advance, Good Luck with your site.

Ronnie.

Hull's i have seen you a few times posting that you hate sites with short videos, videos with ads before them or any videos that need to be downloaded....etc
Really i think what you are looking for is TV and not the internet, stick the TV on BBC 1, BBC2 and you can watch video content all day with no hassle.

Short videos work for most people online as the average user has a short attention span and it doesnt cost the site owners too much in bandwidth. Any sites that offer free videos that last for a long time and have no advertisements before or during will go out of business fast unless they have some grand plan for revenue.

I love what is happening with the internet right now, so many sites are now much more than pages & pages of text now that they are sprinkled with quality video content.

The average video length on YouTube is 3.35 minutes and they currently have 75.9 million videos uploaded.

yeah and even Youtube have struggled to find a way to make steady profits from free videos that last more than a minute.
Also the site this thread is about is not a video upload site so things cannot really be compared, video is used on sites like Oztralia.tv to compliment the content & make it more entertaining but if the were to make it extra long, free and have no ads then it would serve no purpose.

My comment was in relation to long vs short videos as referenced by what Hull's said and what you replied. My facts support your comments.

User Generated Content or otherwise, the viewing population prefer short videos and as YouTube is the best example of what users want and what they upload, I used them to illustrate my point.

Sorry Heroes, i picked you up a little wrong :)

Hull's sites like this one and others that use short videos are not trying to become 'TV over the net', they are enhancing what can normally be slightly boring sites full of text with a degree of video content while still achieving their sites goals (making money, selling ads...etc)

What you are wanting with completely Free sites that offer you high quality extra long videos with no adverts wont happen online or offline.
I guess there is some sites that give you what you are looking for with free streams but any i have seen are surrounded by google ads &/or nasty pop ups and potential viruses.

We would all love to sit on the internet watching Lost, 24, Only Fools & Horses and so on FREE over the internet but then how would the productions companies make money, the actors, the site owners.....etc Traditional Tv companies require subscriptions, TV licenses, Pay Per View to get quality content so online video content will need to be paid for in similar ways except online the income is most likely to come through advertising during or around the video content.

Look at it from the site owners point of view, why would they provide high quality free video content that costs big money to make & more again with bandwidth away for Free with no prospect of making money?

I'm going way off point here on this thread so i'll end it there but i hope you get my point Mike - look at these sites as much better than traditional purely text based sites rather than Free TV on the net providers.

Ronnie:

I wanted to take a moment to reply to your questions.

1. The site is aimed at young (15-30 year olds) who are planning a trip to Australia.

2. We expect income out of each of the areas you outlined in your post.

3. We produce all the video content. For the blogs and written features, we do some of those, and we also have contributors.

Thank you for your questions.
