The Aussies use OZ for Australia. But I don't think .coms with OZ will fetch a lot of money because in Australia they have a strong cctld of their own, .com.au. So, the .com with OZ isn't so great. Of course there will always be some exceptions.

I echo stubs' reply. Seems to me, as an Australian, it is worth more to have a generic keyword domain with the .com.au extension rather than the generic keyword domain + "oz" in a .com extension.

hello from melbourne ! its just another way of refering to the term 'aus' but it's not like you see it everywhere

We Australians use a lot of slang, colloquial speech, OZ is just the colloquial term for AUS. And i concur that .com.au is a sound platform for any online presence here, don't go regging OZ"domain".com as you would be going against the tide.

Agree with the others' comments.

We use 'OZ' in Australia as a slang term for 'Australia'....as in '...such and such happens here in OZ...'

A domain like, say, Sydneyoz.com (or .com.au) would not be worth much, imo...People are unlikely to connect with its meaning easily, imo....But there may be the odd domain, using 'Oz', that works.

(Disclosure: I own OzClothes.com)

Owners of .com.au?

How do I find ownership of a .com.au domain name? GoDaddy and Network Solutions have no info on domains with this extension.

Thanks.

.com.au is only for australians and you need an abn (australian business number ) you can look at intaserve.com to see a .com.au registrar site , names not available have a whois next to them

still some companies go that route...

OzForex is one, they use both .com and .com.au and this is a big company.

I hope topic creator doesnt mind putting one domain that I own under the same attitude, its hiOZ.com.
I bought it over pool and had in mind suing it for Australia related topic, as it seems local wont be accepting such domains a lot.

it would need to be .com.au to be considered 'local'

.. now a bit confused ...

Facts:
- you cant register .com.au if you dont have biz there
- com.au is 'standard' in Australia
- Oz is slang for Aus(tralia)
- but some companies use OZ
- but some companies use .com

so OZkeyword.com or KeywordOZ.com are bad ? or only dont have much value ?

If i'm going to develop it, is it then bad / stupid etc ?

thank you, zoki

.com.au came after .com , so some companies have stuck with .com, new companies will choose .com.au
no abn means you cant reg here , australian business number
we of course recognize 'oz' but it may also be 'aus' i did see a website address with oz yesterday , just not common that's all , but yes some out there for sure

regarding developing hard to say what's good or bad , can be best domain and crap site ????
