Strangling the information supply and robbing those who created it is not a good long term business plan for an entity such as Google. Maybe some AI-novelty can tell them that.

On the first page, Google is competing with authoritative unique-content sites that invested a lot of resources for the privilege of being ranked at the top.

I believe it's only advertisements that it applies to.
