I'm new to this forum and I was wondering what you all thought about the valuation of my domain name outage.com. I put up a lil' bid form on it, feel free to check it out. Thanks in advance for your feedback and I welcome any serious bids.

low $xx wholesale -- A short one word dictionary .com! Outrage.com would be better, but this one reminds me of a power outtage... oh wait, this is a typo domain, isn't it?

$0 wholesale...

TYPO DOMAIN? ummm no, I guess its only a typo domain for people who can't spell. I don't think I've ever asked someone about my domain and they thought outage was actually spelled outtage, lol, that is a first.

I think it has good value as a power outage reporting site, or tracking site. So thanks for your suggestion Anthony, it made sense up until the spelling part.

So now that you know it is a correctly spelled, real dictionary word with real world application, 6 letters, and a dotcom any valuation suggestions?

Thanks

I think outage.com is a very good domain and I think it would bring at least between $5k to $10k for the right end-user. Maybe more!
I've seen domains with less value sold for over $25k to an end-user.

good luck!

Thanks everyone, I tend to agree more with wisconsin, it's just a matter of finding the right organization or use for the domain and I believe it is highly valuable. It's good to hear everyone's opinions tho.

One other contributing factor also is that outage.com comes up as at least 1 of the top 5 listings when you search just about any major search engine (including google and yahoo) for "outage" and other realated terms.

Here are the current search engine rankings for "outage":

Google - 5th
Yahoo! - 1st
A9 - 5th
Overture - 4th
DogPile - 2nd
Lycos - 1st

i think wisconsin was being WAY overly generous, but of course I always agree with whoever appraises it for more too, lol.
there's just over 1 million google searches, which isn't very impressive and 298 overture, which is very unimpressive.
my question is..who is this enduser who's going to spend $5,000?
imho, your best bet for an enduser would be an electric company or cable provider or something of the sort, obviously... also maybe someone looking for a 'cool' name for a new company...
wholesale $30-$50 TOPS
enduser - $300-$500....

Also consider the fact that an "outage" wouldn't be a "good thing" in most cases.

However, it is a fairly popular dictionary word - that alone should qualify it for for mid 3 figures.

The best possible use I can think of would be for a Gay Pride type site or forum :)

Nice name - good luck with it!

Well yeah but just cause something isn't a "good thing" doesn't mean it doesn't serve just as much of a purpose. I mean GeorgeWBush.com has pretty heavy traffic right? :)

Yeah, I've considered the gay thing a lot. I actually purchased the domain in May of 1998 for that purpose. I'm gay and the concept was OutAge, inspired by AdAge. I was going to do a glbt community site a la gay.com but better, just never got around to it. If I don't end up selling it I still might. Thanks for the suggestions.
