There was a thread on this a while ago but not many people replied. So, what operating systems do you use?

I am running Arch on my laptop and Mythbuntu on my media centre.

I feel all alone with my non-MS OS... I'll just... go and huddle in the corner and cry myself to sleep with loneliness...

Same here. :)

I was close to switching to Ubuntu -- actually made the decision to -- but couldn't get any wireless networking to work. Back to XP! :hehe:

It frustrates me when someone leaves an OS simply because of a hardware problem. Windows is useless on some computers and generally requires more drivers installed than Linux - the only area where Linux is especially bad is wireless cards. I had a huge problem when switching from Ubuntu to Arch with my wireless card, but I stuck at it and now Arch is my favourite distro.

My thinking is that if it can't handle my simple hardware without pulling a tooth (a wireless PCI card? c'mon...), it's probably not developed enough to be used. :imho:

I'm sure someday I'll try it again, though.

Or even just try to get it working, it's just a case of downloading and installing the driver.

I might have agreed with you if i was unaware of technical details,

a lot of hardware used to be soft-hardware, i.e. partly software partly hardware.

so its not the fault of o.s. that' it can't detect or use the particular piece of hardware but the fault lies at manufacturer,

enought of technical lecture.

on non technical side,
try opensuse, that might help.

For at home I use a zonbu machine , which has its own version of linux, and it runs off of a flash drive. I use that at home because I spend a lot of time on my other machines at my office.

At the office I use osx leopard which runs vmware so I am able to run any windows application under XP Home SP2 .
