Hi
I want to show my website members a mvoie which is in .wmv format. Is there any script which changes the link of the file each time it is played so that i can protect leeching/hot linking. It will be great if this script also plays the file and does not allow download(not very important). Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, possible, but to keep track of the current name each change you will want to store it in a filename (but that can be insecure...) or a database (recommended).

So, in a PHP file that plays the script, just have it rename that movie filename, then store the new filename in a database. The page that LINKS to the movie should call from the database the current filename.

The only problem I see with this is if you get lots of traffic and by the time the page to click to go to the movie has loaded, the name will have changed ... and the page won't know that, thus giving you a 404 error.

I'd recommend setting a .htaccess file... google it

thanks alot for the reply. I have actually found a better way. I will convert wmv to fla and play them in a flash player so none will ever get the link to the file

Just use a decompiler and you have the url :P
