Hi Guys,

I'm interesting in hearing your appraisals for a newly acquired domain: OilPrice.com
I will be putting up a site in the next few weeks as i don't think this is the best of times to be selling on.

Nice keywords.
Good potential developed but more traffic as oil rises high I think.

As far I'm concerned I frequently check the bloomberg energy price page.

With oil prices fluctuating a lot lately the price of this domain has proabably gone up and would probably sell. I would say somewhere in the 20000 to 30000 range but if you make a good database driven site to go with it you may be able to retire.

That is exact search from Google Keyword Tool, not Overture.

"Oil Prices" has even more searches. Very popular term, clear use, aged domain.

It is worth a good amount even to a reseller.

Understand search engines and you understand the value. LLLL.com are great for business cards and word of mouth. Keyword domains are for SEO, many don't understand the value of location.

I would not want to let this go for less than mid $xx,xxx personally and oil companies have huge quantities of money. Perhaps offer it to BP for $1billion and be prepared to accepts $500million - Would only be a weeks profit for them anyway lol.

You have a great domain on hand there. Don't tell me you found it available for registration....

I don't quite agree with the others, but I am sure that the domain is worth much, much more - especially to end users.

Maybe there aren't that much searches on the keyword, but you will attract a fair share of visitors.

Thanks for your appraisals (the good and the odd).

It wasn’t a hand reg – I bought it off someone who used to own a company that was involved in the oil business for a fair sum.

Shig – I’m interested in what you mean by a database driven site – I like the sound of retirement.
Bmugford – thanks for pulling off the stats – I should have done it myself. I pretty much agree with your appraisal, but I will not be targeting resellers in my sales efforts.
Holyroller – well I suppose at a push I’d come down to $500million :lol:

oilprices . com is a developed site with fair number of visitors. Going by the same vein, I would assume that you can develop it and command a decent price for it. My opinion, once developed you could get:
high x,xxx to low xx,xxx
