PPC-----Pro dot Com (without the dashes)

Registered it in 2001 with intention of developing a site offering Pay Per Click Marketing (PPC).

Today, 8 years later there's quite a few companies that offer PPC Professional classes, courses, monthly services, software, etc.

Was contacted today by someone interested in purchasing. Their initial offer is "between $2,500 - $5,000."

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you.

I think that offer is more than fair for a brandable domain like that. I would suggest you close the deal, because that amount of money can buy much better domains in the current market.

I Find it hard to believe that some domainers can even question a sale like this.
Take it! Don't be greedy

The buyer actually said that?

Yes, here's what they said: "It is hard to make a offer, and to know what is the value. What do you think about a price between $2,500-5,000?"

Tell him 5k, let him counter the offer with the ballpark of 3500-4k, then tell him 4500 see if he budges to that. If not sell for atleast 3.5k

Lucky bastard take the 2.5 and get out

Kind of sounds like a scam email to me. Post the entire email, if you don't mind, or at least do a google search for it. Good luck.

if it is not a scam I would try to go closer to the top end of that offer. I think that is a nice brandable domain.

what worries me is there is already ppc - pro . com etc

ALSO you might want to edit your original post & fix the domain so that if the potential buyer is researching it, you do not want them to find this thread lol

Mostly very good advice. My thought when I hear an offer range is that you are dealing with a broker, and maybe not an experienced one. I would take what they said as what the buyer was willing to pay. This is BAD for the buyer, but GREAT for you!

My approach would be to act EXCITED about selling, but a little disappointed at the price. Say you expected more like $7.5k, but that you happen to need the money, and were thinking about accepting other offers. Counter with $6.5k or something higher than $5k. REPEAT that you really would like to sell this domain if you can come to an agreement on the price.

They should reply with something that will range from what you ask, to something in the range of what they said to start with. $2.5k would be ok for a domain like that, but I could see the value going over $5k for the right buyer. I suspect that someone wants to start or brand a business, and they should have the money to get what they want if it's not outragious.

If you understand what I am talking about, you should be able to get a nice price for this great domain...!

P.S. The comment about ppc-pro.com is interesting, but not a worry for me. I would suspect that they may be the buyer...! They may not want to risk losing business to anyone else that could buy your domain. That insurance could easily be worth $5k. I notice you don't have anything hosted on the domain. If you had ads for PPC services, you might have been making money from this domain and perhaps gotten a serious offer long before this. :)

"between $2,500 - $5,000" tells me that he doesn't want to play negotiation games and hopes you just meet him somewhere in the middle. So around $3,750, which is a nice payday on this domain.

Agree with DubDub, but I like round numbers, 4K

Its hard enough sometimes to get end users to make an offer so I wouldnt push my luck and try to get more out of them.

Good Luck,

Mike

Yes, even if you don't want to let us know the price due to the buyer's privacy request, let us know if it sold. Curious. Not surprised you got that offer, any decent term (like PPC) with 'pro' on the end is very brandable and attractive these days. I wouldn't appraise them with a hugely wild value but would definitely say that, to end users, most decent keyword+pro name would be worth in the low x,xxx area. Weaker keywords+pro are more in the xx to xxx area, and killer keywords+pro (like poker, sex, computer, etc) can sell well into the high x,xxx, even to low xx,xxx.
If I had to guesstimate your name, to an end user, I would probably not have given it an appraisal as high as the offer you received for it. That's a very good offer.

Most of us are curious to know if the sale went through mostly because we were wondering if it was a serious offer or if it was an appraisal scam. Let us know whatever you can about the results.
:)

I'd say call it a flat 4K and have the buyer pay for escrow.
