Numeric or Digital...???

Hello ,
in french the first therm is "numerique" ==>la tele numerique,un appareil photo numerique ...etc (digital exist but is an old term for this technology)...
... but for a english/american user it is right or a "non sens"???

"Numeric" for an english/american user it's only for the number???
