I am new on this forum and found this to be a goldmine for info and awesome marketplace. I have bought couple of domains from people and have always practiced a fair business. But few people here are too hard on us. They aren't giving us a chance to prove my legitimacy. They are very skeptical and not dealing with us/me. This is very disheartening and not making me comfortable on this forum. I would appreciate if anyone can suggest how to purchase domains and carry out biz in here being a newbie.

Back then, when I was a newbie, times were tough. :D I used to chill on the corner of the cctld- and godaddy discount threads.

I've noticed that in more recent times, some newbies who are participating in auctions or "buying" a name listed at fixed price, sometimes do not pay. The member has not paid, and the other people are not interested anymore. The seller could be in a bad position-especially if the domain was close to expiry.

The best would be to pm the seller beforehand, and ensure to pay fast once you have won. You will prove yourself to be a trustworthy buyer. Also it can be a good example to uphold for future deals too.

The seller will give you a positive rating if everything went smoothly.

Things get easier from there with good buying/selling behaviors.

I'll add to the above by saying you should post sold if fixed price then immediately contact the seller. If they have not posted any purchase requirements in the listing then they should complete the transaction.

That said, there are certain people I will never trade with regardless of "reputation." If you're honest and consistent that is all that matters imo.

Hey breakdance...welcome to NP

We have ALL been there starting out, believe me.
It takes time to build a reputation and a little longer to build a trusted reputation. There are many instances of the domain forums being one of the first stops for stolen names to be flogged off or trying different scams.

Don't take it personal. Be patient.
As this is usually a "pay now...get the domain after payment" type business it is not without cause that people are hesitant to deal with new arrivals to the forum.
What you may want to consider, if you are doing business with a reputable, trusted member, is pushing the name to them first and having payment sent after they receive the name. This will help build your Trader Rating.
And a reputable (higher Trader Rating) member isn't about to ruin their rep by ripping you off and having their rep tarnished.
Your reputation is a lot on the forum....maybe everything.

With higher priced sales a reputable escrow service can be used to conduct the transaction.

It's an old cliche but....respect is earned.
Be patient and carry youself professionally.

Much success moving forward.

Thanks for the input J,

I know selling will be a problem being a newbie. But in this scenario I was a buyer and was ready to pay the guy upfront. I don't know where's the risk when I am paying him upfront.

OK...That wasn't explained in your original post.
But in this scenario I was a buyer and was ready to pay the guy upfront
Some may be worried about stolen/hacked PP accounts from new members and buyers that pay and then do a PP chargeback/reversal. Not common but it does happen....and a REAL PITA.

Hang in there bd...I see you have 1 TR now
