No Profits from Domain Parking at Sedo!

Ok, guess my expectations of easy money was a little too high to begin with. With 26 domains and 3 days at Sedo, I've only obtained 41 views & 4 clicks on 16 domains, and a grand total of $0.40.

For those of you who read my earlier topic about building my 1st website, well I'm turning it into a bigger challenge. In the last 2 days, I've added an online store (Amazon.com associate) & a classifieds page for my parked domain. Next up will be a blog directory and adult joke site - all 5 websites will be interlinked together. Hopefully, this will drive more traffic to my parked domains.

Anyone interested to follow my personal crusade can check out the website (last line in my signature) ;)

Hark, I had a question about your methods you were describing in this thread.

Taking one of your sites, holdemplay.com, as an example, I'm wondering why anyone interested in information about Texas Holdem would click a link saying that the domain is for sale? How do you get visitors to click the 'domain for sale' link to get to the Sedo site?

Good question to which I don't have an answer. I am trying different things to get generate more revenue/sales from names.

The first thing I do when I see a standard parking page is keep going quickly. Some content just might hold the surfer for a few seconds to look a bit. They might click on an ad or think about looking to see if there is an asking price. Is this theory good --hell I don't know except I have some other 'semi-developed' sites where around 50% of the uniques either click a Google or continue on to Sedo. When a name gets to earning 20X reg fee it is no longer for sale.

The other thing is that I can submit to SE's, link from some of my other sites and grab a bit of SE referals. mccoy-pottery.com now has a PR3 and generating enough $$$ that I am just about to remove it from the for sale list.

I am quite sure some think I have my head where I can't see daylight. This may be true. I am trying different ways to get traffic for PPC and or sales where the names don't have type in traffic.

If this doesn't make sense it is because I am flying 'by the seat of my pants
'.

Go to http://www.dnjournal.com/ , read the feature article and pay special attention to his ( Chris Chena) comments about development.

P.S.
You mentioned HoldemPlay -- Because of the Google TOS I can't say numbers but will say that there has beec traffic to the site and to Sedo today. So far the numbers look good especially since I just did this yesterday and makes me think it might get targeted for development. Will know more in a month or so.

Thanks for the great response. I had a feeling that maybe you didn't know an exact answer to the question. I'm new to the domain business but I may try something like this for my first few sites. Looks like it might be profitable.
