news.am

Recent acquisition in ccTld. It should be very attractive as .am "morning" with strong keyword as possible tv/media website or general news portal. Has .am translated over this way yet or do domainers see potential market for .am in this respect. Value? Thanks in advance for appraisals.

I like the name -- it has strong branding potential. Drawbacks include high reg fees and a lesser known ccTLD, but it is a solid development domain.

Great Name!

I've seen this name available, but didn't risk to register until I would visit Armenia. (The reg fee for .AMs is $10 to Armenian citizens)

This name could be developed into Armenian News portal or Armenian Genocide News.

Good Luck!

Could go for up to $x,xxx

Cool name.
I tried regging this a little while back when I saw it on an available list.
You must have just pipped me to the post.

I'd see it as a news AM radio station. I couldn't appraise it, as I am unfamiliar with this TLD, but I think that it has potential.

Unfortunately, I doubt it will ever make it to your registrar's account.

It has been regged since 1997 by the same party, but it shows up as available in most Registrars.

Check the whois here: https://www.amnic.net/whois/

Ive always wondered about the .am domains.. I picked up Rock.am a few years ago, gets a bit of traffic but I dunno.... If I was to say Id dipped my toe in, that toe would literally have only kissed the Armenian surface ..

Good luck with your name...

yes, I was excited when I 'registered' news.am through GoDaddy 4 days ago - till I got knocked back by the registry though - must be a reserved name

got turned down for China.am too - that even says it is not taken on the Armenian whois but they don't allow country names to be registered

"The requested domain name can not be registered because it does not match Domain Name policy rules."

https://www.amnic.net/register/

is the best place to check if it is likely to pass

in the end I picked up digital.am

Its a Cool Domain Name IMO
I think you should start a website on this rather than selling now.
Start a news related site with Feeds and after geeting some market value sell it :)

You guys were right. I got a refund notice from my registrar. The name had showed available at Moniker and my registrar but I guess it was already taken. I have had this happen before. what can you do. for those interested, I do think television.am might be actually be available though. I am holding off on the .am for now.

Thanks to all who responded.
