Hi. Welcome to the forum and domain trading. It's a great industry to be in if done right. I suggest you take a good look around here and read the sticky threads here in the newbie section and the domain discussion section at the very least. When I first began domaining I spent ages here reading as much as possible before doing too much which was a very wise move now that I look back at things. If you have any specific questions do a search and if it doesn't come up then feel free to make a post asking what you need.

All the best! :)

Here are some general tips for you:

1. Start off very slow (set a base amount of domains you will register per month)
2. Register only .coms - .net if keyword is awesome
3. Focus on keywords with high traffic (see Google Adwords Keyword Tool + hit exact)
4. buy domains that flow well and sound "right"
5. buy keywords that have high potential to make money (cell phones, lawyers, big tickets g+s)
6. Don't expect to sell anything
7. Develop the sites so you can hopefully have the domains pay for themselves
8. Make a for sale sticker for the website. Slap it on there so an interested person knows you are selling.
9. Ask for constant criticism for your domain buying. You'll soon find out if you're doing well or not.
10. Chart all of your domains with details in an excel spreadsheet.

Remember that you are in a for profit investment. Its a small business operation. Set out goals and be honest with yourself on how you are progressing.

Hi Zacf,

Welcome to the world of domaining!

I am in the process of setting up a new website basically giving a full tutorial for people who are new to the domain world. (In terms of parking etc! as i know you have been in the design for a while!)

Feel free to PM me if you would like to know more... i would also like to chat to a few newbies and find out what the latest pressing questions are that i should be addressing etc. I also have some good info on the best parking sites to go with etc.

Send me a PM and we can chat...You can also skype me (username: grouppark) or gmail chat ([email protected])

Best regards,

Andrew (www.grouppark.com - coming soon!)

I like this prescription. I think you can follow this tips.

Where were you in 1990? The domain business is tough right now. Be careful, Read Forums, Ask Questions.. Most of us are nice guys. If you can.. give me an example of a domain you reg'd. It'll let me know you mindset. Also it should let me know if you should go back to web design...
Welcome to NP Dude!
