New @ Sedo: No Minimum Commissions!

Some excellent news, now I will be much more inclined to sell via Sedo.

NO MIN. COMMISSION ON PARKED DOMAINS!

Normally, when you sell a low-value domain name, the escrow fees can take a pretty large chunk out of your profits. Although Sedo's minimum commission fee of $50 (which includes our escrow/ transfer service) is already the lowest in the industry, these fees erase half your profit if the domain you sold is only worth $100!

Now, there's a solution to this problem: Park the domain with Sedo! Effective immediately, there is no minimum commission fee for domains parked with Sedo. That means you pay just a flat 10% commission fee regardless of the value of the domain name. So, if that $100 domain name is parked with Sedo, you'll pay a measly $10 commission! Don't worry, our commission fees are still all-inclusive: you get processing of the buyer's payment, a secure escrow account, and Sedo's personal assistance with the technical transfer of the domain name, all included free with your Sedo commission. Sounds good, but it seems there's more to it: :(

Offer is valid until December 31, 2004. Sedo reserves the right to discontinue the offer at any time, with or without notice.

Also, the offer is only valid for US/Ca residents.

Where did you see that time horizon? I only found that US/CA condition but not the time limitation of the promotion. :'(

I feel your pain ;)

Check it out here:

Then click on "Offer conditions".

I noticed the offer as well but I was taken back once I saw the timeline condition. I guess they are experimenting to see whether it will be worth it in the future. As someone else said in this same forum, I think advertising is a big part of Sedo's business and I think they've been loosing its share in the last few weeks. Guess they try to get back all those lost 'parkers'.

Cheers!

Wow, it appears to be EVEN more restrictive in nature!

No minimum commission offer is valid for customers residing within the US and Canada only. In order to be eligible for the commission reduction, a domain must be parked (and have received at least one view) before the buyer makes his first offer. Offer is valid until December 31, 2004. Sedo reserves the right to discontinue the offer at any time, with or without notice.

I bet they would get substantially more sales volume than they are already getting if they made it full-time. Wouldn't that make up for losing the minimum commision in the long run?

Should do, only I don't know what kind of volume they have?

I just lost a sale on a .co.uk because of the minimum commission ยฃ/$/โ‚ฌ 100 in the case of a .co.uk, so any move to do away with this is welcome.

But for US/CA residents only? C'mon SEDO you can do better than that - take care of where you come from.
