BCB Engineering is looking for a new and improved web presence. We are a small structural engineering firm located in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. We mainly focus our engineering efforts on buildings including steel, concrete and wood design. Our current website is www.bcbengineering.com.

We're looking for a more professional and interesting web design than what we currently have. The logo has to remain the same , although a stylized logo (keeping the same basic design) may be acceptable for the website. We are not looking for a flash site. We are not looking for a cookie cutter site that you bought a template for, unless it is the best thing out there.

The way we would like this contest to run is please post a design preliminary design in this thread so all can see. I believe letting everyone see what is coming in makes better designs as people can see what they are up against. Then pm me with a bid to complete the template and a separate price to code the page. Please post all questions in the thread for all to benefit from the answer, unless its a personal question about your bid price.

The winner will be picked based on both price and the best design, which will be approved by all in our office. The lowest price may not get the project, but we do have a budget. BCB Engineering Ltd reserves the right to not pick a winner if no suitable designs are submitted.

To start, we are looking for a site layout designed to be done with css and html. Do not code it yet (unless you have to show some good effects) as it is not part of this contest. Once the winner has been awarded based on the layout and price, the winner may be hired to code the rest of the page.

We also have a possible three other websites to redesign in the near future. The winner will be given first crack at developing these three other sites if this contract works well.

Payment will be made with PAYPAL upon completion of the contest.

The winner will agree to turn all the rights over to BCB Engineering Ltd for all layouts images and coding on the website. You will be allowed to show the site in a portfolio of your work. The website, including all images, design and coding become the property of BCB Engineering Ltd. upon payment.

Our logo can be found in a zip file located here . The file contains a .gif and a .ufo (Ulead PhotoImpact6) of the logo.

The contest will end at noon on Friday August 26, 2005. An extension may be given if no suitable designs have been submitted.

Just to let you know, the bids so far are coming in at the $XXX range. There is money to be had here.:$:

Good Luck :!:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

I would like you to submit a bid privately for the layout and a separate bid to finish the coding and page.

Thanks for those who have entered so far. The entries are really great. I like the simplicity of the sites. They both look very proffesional. I will probably wait until Monday to post more in depth comments on the submissions so the rest ofthe office can see them.

Keep the entries coming. I'm liking it.

Okay, here's the first round of feedback.

Dew #1 - I really like the brightness and rounded corners. The layout is attractive and really catches the eye as it is not something you see all the time. Very nice and clean. Nothing to change on this one.

Mr Plague #1 - I like the blue, but it is too plain I think. I see similar layouts all the time. Spice it up a bit if you can.

Dew #2 - It's not bad. I thin the banner could use something else to break up the dark blue a bit. It's kind of empty on the right side. I like the button and border detail with the dots.

Mr. Plague #2 revised - I like this one better. I like the menu placement above the banner. Very clean and professional looking page.

Mr. Plague #1 revised - I don't like the bcb faded over top of the banner. Not sure I like the green banner with the blue logo. i think it would be better as a more complimentary colour. The drop down menu is nice and I like that the contact info was broken out from the main menu.

To all, keep up the great work. I'm still looking for some more entries though. Maybe the lack of entries is because no price is listed. I will let you know that all the bids so far have been in the $XXX range, so its not being done dirt cheap. And remember the winner will have the opportunity to design 2 or 3 other pages that we currently have.

Keep entering! :$:

Still here. I wanted to wait until I was back at work to submit feedback so the other people in the office could give their input. I will try to give feedback at least once a day now.

Keep the entries coming in!

Mr. Plague #3 - I like the layout on this one, especially the green menu.

The colours that I don't want are basically anything dark. I don't like dark pages. I want the page to be bright, vibrant and to catch your eye, but not to be to much for the eyes to look at. You know, the perfect colour?!

so first we work our asses of to get selected as the best, and then we should tell you the price? what is your budget then? because what if I design, and got chosen the best design, but you can't afford it?

"Once the winner has been awarded based on the layout and price"

If you read the first post, It tells you he will choose according to the design and the price. He isn't going to choose the winner only from the design.
