Beginning with NEXT week's LIVE auction, 10 of the regular 32 live auction queue slots will be designated as "Featured Slots". These 10 queue slots will be offered in a NP$ auction format that opens Wednesday night after the auction, and ending the day before. We'll then be able to promote the 10 featured names that will be auctioned. Pre-bidding may be possible in the future where users can bid on these names prior to the event.

The remaining 22 queue slots will be available as normal (on a first-come basis for a fixed price) 30 minutes prior to the event time.

Benefit for NamePros
- Better quality names in live event.
- Have names that can be announced beforehand to attract more attendees and bidders to the live event.

Benefit for Sellers
- More exposure to your names for sale
- Not have to deal with the current queue system

We had planned to try this for this week's event, but I am postponing it to have a scripted solution for submitting your names to the pre-queue. This is a trial solution only. Results will determine if we continue with it or not. Comments welcome!

Free ?? - Depends on what you mean - If you read it again you'll see : You have to bid on the Featured slots ;) and The remaining entries will still have to pay the entry fee as well - This is to Help with two problems we currently have with the old system.

1) People are not always Fast enough to enter or available at the very time the Queue opens

2) This will open the way for some Better names to be entered as well we feel - People are less likely to bid high to enter "my-cat-broke-his-blue-collar.tk" in the auction ;)

:tu: Wooooooot :p

Yes it does sound like a good idea and hopefully 1 that will work.

Just need to get people to try and cut down on the chat a bit during auctions which can be annoying sometimes.

Oooh I hope this works. It's a decent solution, and I hope it works and is set into stone. [ie: Scripted] The low quality names are really beginning to irritate me.

It is an idea worth trying. Past np auctions have shown that high prices can be achieved for names. Featured names should not be all upfront but interleaved with the regular submissions...Ok maybe the first 5...Listing some names in advance of the auction is a good trailor. I am not sure how You have to bid on the Featured slots is going to work in practice.

Sounds like a great idea...I'll be interested to see how much these featured slots end up getting auctioned off at...

Nice idea! I think it would be a little more "healthy" for the site if the "featured" spots were one every two or three or so. If they're the first ten spots in the auction, and all the "good" domains are posted then, a lot of members may leave after the featured names.

Nice thinking, NP staff. :)

I was thinking every third auction would be a featured auction.

this sounds like a good idea RJ, you could rotate every third or just save all the featured for last to keep everyone around which would make the ending of the auction go out with a bang or better sales, plus the later you do them the more people would be around as I know personally sometimes I may not be around at the start of the auction and will pop in usually when it's half over, either way works and a good idea in general.

I agree with the chit chat - gets confusing and hard to follow.

and I think the Featured Q is a great idea.. Opportunity to showcase upcoming auction :)

Sounds like a great the idea, the highest bidders auction coming first. Every 3 slots sounds good aswell, not the last 10. It will be 1am in the morning at that time for us people living in the UK!

In my opinion you will see how high the bidding is for the 10 slots and see it would be very beneficial to add another day for an auction during the week and definitely raise up the price per listing.

How about for 100NP to list you can set a secret reserve?

That way people won't get hit with buyout fee's if the bidders just aren't there.

I would never be able to add any of my names because I work till 5pm EST. I think the premium slots are a great idea.

Make it every week but list the names as the last ten auctions. This way if you can't be there to list you buy a spot and the problem with everyone leaving is solved. I never seem to be able to make it for those two minutes of submission time.

If the featured names are the last ten, you'd have the same problem as you would with them being the first ten. People would only show up for the featured domains.

not only that but you would run the risk of the earlier auction not getting many bids as people would be waiting for the premium auctions.

These 10 queue slots will be offered in a NP$ auction format that opens Wednesday night after the auction, and ending the day before.

is it in motion for next weds auction? (or maybe waiting till after World Cup is finished? :))
