I found a domain I want deleting Saturday. I have already entered it in at Club Drop and want to do it on Pool also (to double my chances of getting it).

I have ever used Pool at all before. Their "2 part system" is confusing. So if I want to try and get this name over at Pool, I just backorder it - then what happens? What if I am the only bidder? What if Im one of many bidders?

I'm real confused - I'm reading over their help stuff, but it's not making sense - could you guys help me out?

Yes, you will need to bid against yourself even if you are the only one.

Eh, thats sad. Pool sounds a bit messed up

Do you think it would be wise to bid for it on Pool too then? Because if Pool got it over Club Drop, I might have more competence with the auction thing.

I believe the registrar it "Central Registrar" which is something based off of DomainMonger I believe. Does anyone know if Club Drop had a good chance of catching it, or is it just a throw-out?

You should use Pool as well as Enom CD and Snapnames at minimum if you want the name badly. Worse case, is that you don't bid higher than the default min bid required, and if you are lucky you get it, even at Pool.

I had a name I didn't exactly want that Pool grabbed and my default bid was $60 which I didn't change. Seemed there was nobody else that put a backorder on that name (you will never know) and after 3 days of the sealed bid thing, the name was instantly given to me without having to go through another 24hrs of challenger auction.

Does snapnames have any of the auction/bidding type stuff Pool does or is it more like Enom CD?

Yes, Snapnames and Enom are auction bidding systems. It's become fashionable and highly profitable for drop catchers to go this way.

Sorry for another bump, but I have to know this:

If I backorder a name on SnapNames/ClubDrop/Pool, what will show up on my credit card bill? Will it show the domain I backordered & won on the credit card bill, or just something like "Sale from SnapNames.com" or something?

I'm really concerned because I don't want my wife to "suspect" I am up to anything if she see's any "adult" names on our bill (not that I would ever develope the domain, only own it).

Please help!

Thanks in advance as always!

I am looking at my c.c. bill right now ... my recent "Snap" shows up as "SnapNames.com, Inc." (in this case, it was $60.00). If you want, next month I'll tell you what Pool's says (I completed my first succesful one there just the other day ... total was $100.00). :gl:
SnapNames (non toll-free, in Oregon) telephone number is also on the invoice ... so unless one of their cute Customer Service Rep's answers, you should be Okie Dokie (assuming she knows already of your domain name fetishes, so on and so forth ;) ).

All the best!
