Never register a domain with NameBright

I registered a domain with NameBright two nights ago. Ever since I've been getting bombarded with robocalls. One every two or three minutes. I had to install an app that blocks all calls not on my contact list. The screen on my phone still comes on when a call tries to come through and it's non-stop. Ridiculous!

The robocall practice is getting out of hand.

Like it or not, to be ICANN compliant, you likely need to use a WHOIS privacy proxy. You can use Anonymize.com for WHOIS privacy even if you are registering domains elsewhere. It is free.

That being said, easier to register at Epik.com where WHOIS privacy is enabled for free by default. The pricing for NP members is comparable, and no-nonsense.

Good luck!

An issue with Anonymize, Rob. From time to time I'm getting a bunch of messages saying

"IMPORTANT! You have been caught masturbating!

……[email protected]

Hi there..

The last time you visited a Porn website with teenagers,
……."

They go on to ask for a BTC payment.

I'm thinking others are getting the same.

Any chance of putting a stop to the spam/scam with Anonymize?

That is a known shake-down scam with nonsense. You can ignore them. That being said, there is a spam filter on the Anonymize email forwarder and it should block those. I will have engineering check it.

The Anonymize VPN does block about 60,000 known hosts of nefarious things. You can reduce the chance of getting unwanted payload by using that VPN.
