sorry nothing to do with design.

Just setup a network with my two computers. The host has the broadband connection. They are both connected to an Ethernet switch and the connection between the two computer is fine as far as shared folders are concerned.
The only problem is I can't get the internet connection.
If I go into my network places on the guest computer, I have the Local Network with the shared folders and the internet. On the internet I have My websites on MSN. Unfortunately I can't connect. Any idea?

Cheers in advance
Patrick

hmm, did u run the network setup wizard? there is a thing where its like, does this computer connect to the internet through: and it lists like 3 options, play with those, and with your network connections, enabling and disabling various ones. When i get home, ill check mine again and then ill come back if oyu still need help.

sure, can 1 get to the internet and not the other? also, you might wann consider resetting your router or ehternet or whatever, somtimes it fixes it, just like a restart on your pc :)

ok, well just unplug all the things related to the internet, like the power to your switch, leave it for a min or so, then plug it back in.

ok... try this
on the client.... the one that is not the host
click:
"start"
"run"
type in "CMD"
press enter
type in "ipconfig"
if it is like 169.something, then this is the default IP address and you dont really have an IP for this computer

then type in ipconfig /renew

this will try and renew your IP if that doesnt work, then i dunno... run windows network configuration wizard
