.mobi Network Solutions now promoting mobi

A client of mine just forwarded to me a well done email that he rec'd from Network Solutions...promoting mobi. Network Solutions just started selling mobi domains the weekend of April 24. NS is one of the largest registrars, with millions of clients...so I imagine that a lot more people are just being exposed to mobi for the first time, this week.
My client has a domain registered thru NS, so I assume they are sending this to all their customers.
The subject line is "Is Your Business Ready For The Mobile Web? Find Out!"

Then the graphically rich and colorful email shows a cell phone and says "Get a Mobi domain - NEW and AVAILABLE from Network Solutions" and on another line says "Click Here to see if your site is mobile friendly". The links lead to a page that has the emulator imbedded, encouraging them to plug their existing domain into the emulator to see if their current site on a cell screen....and also gives them a place to check to see if the mobi they would want is available.

I agree .mobi is going to hit and hit hard be cause every body even your sister cousin is going to want to get in on the mobile web. it will be worth your wight in gold to get in on this. it still very new and a lot of people have learned about it yet. I'm going to get a few myself. I see good thing in the future.

I got the same email. It is in HTML format so can't post it here, but the basic message is to visit http://netsol.ready.mobi/ and check your site's ".mobi readiness", they also show how the site would look today on a couple of common mobile devices.

I really think this is important news. Now I've spoken to a second person who has received this email, everyone in their company received it, and the company in question is seriously considering getting a .mobi for their business.

Man, that is one powerful email getting into a lot of inboxes...

Agree, agree, agree.
This is just one more step in the .mobi direction.

NetSol is the high end department store of domain name registrars. You can buy the same thing at GoDaddy et al, but NetSol had first mover advantage and most people don't like to change or don't care about change (especially for a measly $35 to a business).

This will start to build business awareness. Maybe through IT departments for bigger businesses, but just think about how many small businesses regged their first (and only) domain name through Network Solutions.
