I registered this domain many years ago with the intention of building a social networking site for African Americans, but never got around to doing it. Now I wish to sell this domain at fair market value. Would would you value negroes.com at?

I am not suggesting that using Negroes is something to be proud of for african-americans. I realize that this word is 'offensive' and many would consider the use of it in bad taste but from a strictly marketing perspective this word is still part of the english dictionary and 'memorable'. Putting bad taste or personal feelings aside, a creative person could generate controversy, buzz and free press (good or bad) using this word resulting in traffic for whatever type of site is developed.

I think this is potentially a $XXXX name. Obviously, the word has a severely negative connotation. That said, some African-Americans do use the term themselves. So I don't think your social networking idea was a bad one. If/when you sell the name, I hope you'll make sure before selling the name that the buyer will use it for non-derogatory purposes.

The term is archaic and yet it does have certain application with organizations(NAACP, NCNW, Negro League baseball) which relegates it to the past. It is a fine line and must be utilized in a professional capacity as its misuse is definitely perjorative. A historical anomaly, to be sure.

Can be used as a respectable website perhaps emphasizing the progress and achievements of the African-American community throughout history(Harlem Renaissance, civil rights movement, etc.).

Not at all bad if taken seriously. Price? I dunno, maybe 4 x's to the right enduser. It is an enduser domain name, to be sure.

I agree with abc3200 wholeheartedly to know who the buyer is...
