I'm trying to decide on registering 1 domain of the following example:
IE:
bobsflooring.us
bobsfloring.org

In this case the dot org or the dot us would have a higher resale value in the long run??
All other major extensions are taken by different flooring biz across US.

I'd also choose the .ORG, generally speaking ... the .NET could also be an effective TLD here in the context of a commercial flooring business, as well! :imho:

If you are looking for resale value for this domain, I would go with the .us. The name is clearly for a commercial business, so the .org will look a little odd for most customers. .us is gaining popularity in the US and it's perfect for a US business.

As an investment I'm not sure how many "bob's flooring" companies you can expect to find in the future. for a domain like this I would not bother with anything but the .com and .net, but I could very well be wrong. This is just my opinion.

I agree. Normally I would go with the .org as all the hype and positive trend points to it but in this case .us targets the biz market and .org would be to weird as a biz site.

I assume you aren't asking about "bobsfloring.org" but "bobsflooring.org"

.org is cool for non-commercial sites. In this case i would prefer .us to .org.

is it a flooring, or contruction name? or is that just an example? we would need to know that to help out more.are you going to start the name off with a first name?

I would add something to the domain and get a .com instead

If you're targetting a mainly US market then I would go with the .us as I never like seeing .org sites that are not organisations or charities.
