I am considering purchasing a domain.

I can't publish the name here, but I'll give you a rundown of its basic properties:

it's a dotcom (about 10 letters/ 2 words/ trendy adjective + noun, linguistically and semantically makes perfect sense)

Google >300,000
Backlinks about 50
Alexa Ranking Not Ranked
Overture searches nearly 3000

Domain registered since: 1996

PageRank 1

The owner is asking for $2,000. Based on the above data, do you consider a reasonable price?

I know it's nearly impossible without knowing the name, but any ideas are appreciated. The google score is kind of low. The domain is a 2-word domain and not very short. On the other hand, it would suit my development project very well, although not perfectly.

$2k is way too high for the specs you mentioned -
more like 300-500

I assume that there are no ads with the 300,000 results at goog?

It really is impossible to know without knowing the actual domain.There could be all sorts of reasons for the stats.Some of the best domains out there could have stats like that and some of the worst could too.Not enough info but GL to you. Since you are going to use it I would say ,If the domain satisfies you and the price satisfies you and you think it would be good for what you need it for.Then I say Go For It.Just my opinion.Also ,like you said if its a pretty nice domain and suits your uses (in you words,nearly perfect)it would be hard getting any decent domain registered since 1996 for less.
